You've heard the song "I've Been Everywhere, Man"? It might have been about me.
I grew up in southern, central Michigan. I started playing the violin when I was three years old and music has pretty much been my very favorite thing ever since.
I picked up a trumpet in 6th grade because the school didn't have an orchestra. I then played all through high school, college, and then afterwards in a rock band.
I graduated from Michigan State with a degree in Chemical Engineering. It seemed like the thing to do at the time. The degree took me to the gulf coast of Texas where I got a job with DuPont. Every minute that I wasn't at work, I was playing music.
I played with several bands, most notably Key West The Band and Hoosier Daddy, doing between 100-120 shows a year all over Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Mexico.
Working a full-time job and touring full-time can wear you down. And about the time I was really burning out, I met Heidi. We got married and moved to Guatemala to do mission work for two years. It was a dramatic change, but one I desperately needed - for spiritual, physical, and creative reasons.
After two years in Central America and the birth of our wonderful son, we moved back to the US. Heidi got a job at ECU in Greenville, NC, so that's where we are.
Shortly after, I met some very cool and talented guys and started playing music with them. They're called Spare Change and I'm fortunate and excited to have been given the opportunity to play some more.
During the day, Mini-me and I mostly run around town, looking for trouble to get into. Being a dad is the most challenging thing I've ever done, but the most fulfilling, too. With any luck, Isaac will learn a few things the easy way that I had to learn the hard way. With that, I'll consider my job well-done.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Jesus - face to face. But I'm not in a hurry. I'd like to wait, oh, about 60 or 70 years for that.

A Repudiation of Capitalism???

Health Care Reform - Do What You Want

I was reminded by a capitalist pig friend of mine today that it's not terribly hard to out-maneuver the US Government.  If you're an entrepreneur, a capitalist, and a reasonably smart person, there is...

Once Again, GOP, The Ball is in Your Court...

Okay, full disclosure.  I used to be a Republican.  So did many of the members of Congress with the letter "R" after their names.  Sadly, it took me longer to leave the party than it took them, but I ...
