For four decades, WQBA has offered the best and most complete news coverage and commentaries of the issues and events affecting South Florida including the Mariel exodus, Miami Riots, Hurricane Andrew, 911, Latin American politics as well as local and national elections.Along with its strong commitment to journalistic excellence, WQBA has been a staunch supporter of the community. Charitable and cultural organizations have always found a home on WQBA. Thirty-seven years ago, WQBA was the creator of the famous Three Kings Day Parade. This event started as a way to preserve one of Latin America’s most beloved traditions. What began as a modest effort by the station has become one of the top five Hispanic events in the nation with an estimated attendance of over 500,000 Hispanics.Strong ratings continue to demonstrate that, WQBA maintains its vitality and relevance as “The Voice of Miami.” Its regular Town Hall Meetings and debates continue to serve as forums for South Florida residents to express their opinions and find solutions to issues such as education, school violence, health, and hurricane preparedness among others. WQBA’s vast accomplishments and its support of the Miami community have garnered the station numerous awards and a revered place amongst Spanish-language radio stations in South Florida.
