Safia Jalila

Safia Jalila pronounced Sah Fee Yah - Jah Lee Luh is a singer, songwriter, actress and voice over artist is a powerhouse recognized by GRAMMY U and ASCAP where she is a publisher, writer and performer. She is definitely a triple threat, starring in films, tv commericals and stage plays for her acting chops. Safia Jalila also has a dance background, competing in national dance competitions. Her stage presence is dynamic- drawing you to want more. Born to a West Indian mother and Chicago native father, Safia, is influenced by Caribbean and soul. Her music reflects this through her calypso/reggae beats with lyrics to move you. For Safia Jalila, music is the ultimate outlet for self expression and diverse upbringing. She writes whatever is in her heart and spirit. Her range may include a jazzy ensemble, soulful melody, high energy pop or spicing it up with reggae/ calypso and soca beats.
In June 2007, Safia was struck by a truck on Lake Shore drive, slamming her into a median head on. She sustained injuires, requiring her to go to extensive therapy for over 7 months. Having so much time off from her corporate job as a computer programmer to heal from her accident, she realized that God had a bigger plan for her life. She was not using all of her talents to her capacity. This accident was to slow her down so that she could focus on her passion and dream to be a successful performer. Since then, she has been continuously writing, training and recording, hoping to build an international presence.
Other facts: Dad is a known musician, played with the Delfonics. He also played base and recorded for several Chess Records artists in the early 1970s.
She produced, wrote and compose most of her songs, performed background vocals for TV soundtracks and film scores as well as commercials/jingles. Her Voice Overs appear in Cartoons and projects. Safia Grateful for family, close friends and supporters.
