D. J. Parker DJ a.k.a. Iz’Real was born on December 2nd, 1980 in Winston-Salem, NC. DJ was raised in a single parent home with 4 siblings; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Music and entertainment became an integral part of his life at the ripe age of 10. His introduction to the music world was playing the drums in a marching band for the Winston Lake Family YMCA. At age 12 DJ started his rap career in with his first stage as the streets themselves, eventually gaining notoriety at house parties and then into the clubs. DJ has a laundry list of artist’s that he’s opened up for; including Shyheam The Rugged, Immature Witch is IMX, N-Tyce, Super Cat, Lil-Viscious,Ying-Yang Twins,Young-Dro to Young Joc & Lil John. In 1997 at age 16 DJ was sentenced for 51 to 71 months in prison for armed robbery. During his stint in the Big House he was transferred 7 times to various prisons in the North Carolina Penal system. Throughout his bid he entertained inmates and prison guards alike. On December 21st, 2001 DJ was released from prison finding him self back on the same track that ended him up in prison in the first place. His daily routine consisted of life endangering situations, seeing friends getting killed and almost handing out the killings in some cases as well as seeing good friends be handed long prison terms. With his own brother doing a life sentence and his other brother falling to the pressures of drugs and the streets DJ knew he had to make a change for the better. This realization came through his seed. On March 18th, 2005 DJ’s first and only child was born. Now was the time to make that lifestyle change not for just him but for his baby boy. DJ now spends most of his time putting in work in the studio. He says “I know that boat is comin’ through NC, I gotta’ be the one holdin’ it down for my people’s”. Accompanied by a soulful voice DJ brings his own slang twisted with a Northern/Southern flow. DJ has come to create a major fan base for himself all over NC, which is now spreading throughout the country.
