Concerts. Music. Music. Concerts. Music. More music. More concerts. Cereal. Night. Drawing. Art in general. Dolls with missing parts. Dazzle camouflage. Sleeping. Waking. Opposites. Not deciding what I like.
Fast stuff. Slow stuff. Raw stuff. Loud stuff. Make your ears AND heart hurt stuff. My Chemical Romance, The White Stripes, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cure, Joy Division, Slipknot, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Doors, and Radiohead just for starters. Right now I’m all over 30 Seconds to Mars, Death Cab For Cutie and The Secret Machines. My folks are huge polka fans. They keep trying to get me into it, which is not happening. A kid in lederhosen isn’t even cool on Halloween.
Dead Man Walking,Harold & Maude,Reality Bites, Napoleon Dynamite, Never Been Kissed. Monty Python and the Holy Grail has always been a favorite. Memento and The Matrix, too. I really kind of like the Harry Potter movies and, I’ll admit it, I would die to be Spiderman. (I can say that, can't I? Even tho I'm already dead?)
There’s really nothing good on TV anymore. Plus, my parents don’t even have cable. But if someone sits me down and points me at it I’ll watch Lost, the Simpsons or Southpark. The dude in House is pretty wicked, too. And, okay kinda weird, but sometimes I watch Travel, With Rick Steves.
I read a lot. Partly because I like it, partly because I end up sitting by myself in the cafeteria. (When you sit by yourself, it’s better to read than to stare off into space like some kind of freak. Ha! Get it?) Recently I read “The Book Thief†by Markus Zusak and “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.†But my favorite book is “Chimps! Chimps! Chimps!: A Coffee Table Book on the History of Monkeys†by Dr. Boris Macarena. The man’s a visionary. Also enjoy “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Voodoo†and “Cruddy†by Lynda Barry. Dave Eggers’ memoir called “A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius†sounds cool—never read it, just like the title. I’m thinking of using it for my own biography someday.
Bruce Campbell, Stan Lee, Dr. Boris Macarena, Rick Steves, Rick#2, and Trina the Sock Monkey. Whatev.
