Tia Recording with The Cram Affiliates In Boston
Who is Tia Stewart? The embodiment of what the hip hop industry has lacked since the days of Lauren Hill. She is 28 year old lyricist, born in Jackson, NJ and raised in Virginia. Tia spent 6 years of her adult life in the South Florida scene. She wrote her first rhyme in the 8th grade and recited the same rhyme 4 years later at the University of Md. Baltimore County, at an open mic. Her response was so great that it was then Tia realized this was one of her great gifts that she could not afford to ignore any longer. In 2000, Tia began to take her music more seriously. It was when Tia transferred colleges and moved back to Virginia to go to Virginia Commonwealth University that she began attending open mics, freestyling, and creating her first album titled "Another Level." Tia not only co-produced the album, but also wrote all of her own lyrics and choruses. She mainly gave copies of the album away, and in the year 2002, ended up opening for The Cross Movement, one of christian hip hop's largest acts. Tia discontinued her college education to follow her musical dream, and ended up moving to South Florida in the fall of 2002. She worked for her brother and continued making music. In 2003 she purchased a Triton keyboard, and began producing all of her own music. She joined a group called The G Force alliance and with them completed a mixtape "The Unification" and in 2004 released an album with the group entitled "The Pilot Episode 1." The G Force Alliance is a 5 member group with 1 of the members currently residing in the United Kingdom, so Tia's music has been played internationally. While living in South Florida, Tia performed at several open mic spots in Ft. Lauderdale's, Broward County. In 2005 she completed another solo album entitled "Bedroom Recordings".. a work where she did 90% of production, and showcases again all original songwriting. Tia's style has been compared to the sounds of Jay-Z, Lauren Hill and Nas. She raps about her struggles as a single woman, her relationship with the Lord and her aspirations in life. She keeps her music very down to earth and open, pouring her soul and heartfelt emotions seemingly effortlessly on each track. Tia has a soothing, melodic voice, where each chorus she wooes over has been known to leave a permanent mark in the mind of the listeners. Her lyrics bring you into her world, and attach themselves to a familiar place in your heart, showing life's reality through poetic and lyrical wordplay. In April of 2008 Tia was in Boston recording an album with Antioch Alumni, entitled "Cram Session 4." The album will be released in January of 2009. She is also currently on Richy D's promo album (of G Force Alliance), entitled "The Exposure Promo" which has been sold under Plattertude Records in the United Kingdom and is currently getting airplay through online radio stations Premier Radio (www.premierradio.org/uk) and Cross Rhythms (http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/radio/). She currently resides in Waynesboro, Virginia wih her family, where she works an average job while she continues to shop around her demo to the hip hop industry, waiting for her music to speak for itself. Tia produces music in the categories ranging from hip hop to r&b to gospel. Tia's biggest dream in life is to become a full time recording artist/producer where she can share her positive and influential hip hop music with the rest of the world and fulfill her greatest desire in life.
