A Mariner's Hollow

About Me

This is a compilation project that started in an effort to help promote the music of people I have a personal connection to, largely inspired by the opposite ideal that rules "the music business". I love making mix CDs (RIP the mix tape) and I wanted to make a mix of just friends so that I could hand them out at shows and turn folks onto the musicians I know and love. That evolved into this series of compilations. I started making a mix of friends and soon found I needed to limit it somehow because I just knew too many amazing folks to fit on one CD. Having just come off of tour, I was feeling particularly grateful towards the many friends who provided me (and anywhere between 1 and 11 other people) with a place to sleep and hang out while on the road. I called the compilation "Guests & Hosts," since everyone on there has either stayed at my house or had me at theirs or both. Of course, many folks have shared a roof with me who are not on this CD. So this is still a highly selective group of songs. The best of the music made by friends who've graced my couch or offered theirs. Plus, I wanted to have a really solid mix--with all of the contours and transitions of a good record. Everyone who is on this mix is invited to make a mix of their own, featuring their favorite musical friends. To get a CD, send a message and let me know where to send it. $5 postage included. Also contact me with questions regarding the mix, the folks on it, aquiring their records, etc. ---CJ
