I am here for Friends

About Me

I am a pure Washington State native (born and raised). Although the weather here can be cloudy at times, I can't think of a more beautiful place to live when the weather's nice. During the colder parts of the year, I spend a lot of my time vacationing in warmer tropical areas. Most of my mom's side of the family live in Hawaii, so I travel there at least once a year to seek some warmth. I have been involved with the fire service since September 1995. I spent 4+ years as a volunteer before becoming a career firefigher in 2000. It's a rewarding and an honor to fight fires and save lives.I'm happily married to a supportive husband (Steve) who absolutely spoils me. :) He does most of the cooking and cleaning around the house. He's now retired after 30+ years as a firefighter and is remodeling our home in his spare time. I have lots of "projects" for him, but he has a few antique trucks & tractors he enjoys restoring more than the house. :) I guess I'll have to wait & be patient for my projects. He recently installed new kitchen cabinets. I finally ended up choosing Rustic Maple. Of course after it arrived, I wished I would've stayed with the Rustic Hickory that I initially wanted! Ugh... The Giallo Fiorito granite countertops were installed the end of October. I hadn't realized how much of a headache it is to choose through various types of granite. Now I need to make a decision on backsplash which I'd like to do in tile.I have one son named Micah who turned 25 years old (February ’09). He & Katey blessed me with a precious and very busy grandson "Ethan" who was born May of 2004. Yes, that makes me a grandma... How awesome is that?!!! :) Check out the many photos I have of him. Ethan's one busy boy that's for sure! :)I want to thank those who voted for me in Evening Magazine's Best of Western WA as "hottest firefighter". Who would've thought a female and "grandma" would earn such a title?! I'm embarrassed but honored to have earned such an award. Thank you very much to those who supported me. I'm truly flattered. Here is a link to view my interview. I was totally surprised to have a visit at work. I definitely have no idea that this was coming: http://www.king5.com/on-tv/Best-of-Western-Washington-Hottes t-firefighter-66254322.html
