Bruce "Big John" Mickelson

Bruce "Big John" Mickelson is a long-time Las Vegas comedy favorite, having headlined numerous production shows and reviews on the famous Las Vegas Strip, and all over the United States.
An 8-year veteran of The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, Mickelson was recruited to headline "Comedy Cabaret" at the Maxim Hotel and was such a smash, the producer of that show tapped him to star in the Aladdin Hotel's CMA award-winning "County Tonite." Las Vegas audiences were so enthusiastic about Bruce's "Big John" character that when Country Tonite opened in Branson, MO, Pigeon Forge, TN and Biloxi, MS, "Big John" was the only natural choice to star in those productions.
Among the notable Las Vegas shows featuring the talents of Mr. Mickelson are the Tropicana's "Les Follies Bergere," Westward Ho's "Hooray America!," The Plaza's "Forbidden Vegas," "Hell On Heels" at the Maxim, "Country Fever" at the Golden Nugget, ""Cowboys, Outlaws and Men In Black"" and ""Honky Tonk Angels"" at the Gold Coast. Bruce headlined as "Big John" in "Viva Las Vegas" at the Stratosphere until the show ended, after a nearly 10-year run, in Dec. 2006. He also headlined "Country Kickin'" at the Riverside Resort in Laughlin, NV. His riotous stand-up routine can be seen on comedy club stages around the country, and he is often called upon for appearances at corporate award functions. He is a favorite at slot club parties and winners banquets throughout the year, and is a stand-out opening act for many major comedy and musical artists, including The Lettermen, The Charlie Daniels Band and Kenny Rogers.
A talented comedy writer, Mr. Mickelson starred in "The Great One," his own production-style tribute to Jackie Gleason which delighted Biloxi audiences during its run. His writing for other comedians has garnered rave reviews from fans and critics alike. Versatile and vast, Mickelson's acting and comedic repertoire includes numerous characters, and his improvisational skills are unparalleled.
Bruce has made many charitable appearances as well, and has been a guest on the nationally televised Jerry Lewis MDA and Childrens Miracle Network Telethons. His TV credits include appearances on "Its Garry Shandling's Show" and "The Oprah Winfrey Show" where he was a featured guest. In June of 2006, he took a turn as guest chef on The Food Network's hit cooking show "BBQ with Bobby Flay." Included in Mr. Mickelson's already impressive list of credits are countless voice-overs for film, television and radio.
On the horizon, Mr. Mickelson is preparing treatments for network situation comedy and producing his one-man show of Gleason vignettes.
