About Me
Originally from Miami,Fla., Rick came to Washington D.C. in 1969, as guitarist and featured soloist with the USAF Jazz Ensemble, the"Airmen of Note." While in the Air Force, he spent 22 years with the band, touring, recording and performing with a variety of guest artists including: Sarah Vaughan, Joe Williams, Dr.Billy Taylor, Frank Sinatra Jr., Louis Bellson, Dianne Shurr, Della Reese, Doc Severinson, and guitarists Roy Clark, Johnny Smith, Mundell Lowe, Larry Carlton, Jack Peterson and Howard Roberts.
During that time,he also appeared with the band on the "Tonight Show", the "Mike Douglas Show" , "Nashville Now" and performed at many major Jazz Festivals across the United States including Newport and Monterey.
Rick retired from the Air Force in 1991 and started working in the D.C. area playing solo guitar and performing with different musicians along with some occasional appearances with guitarist Charlie Byrd.
In 1994, Rick was asked to perform with Bassist John Previti and Drummer Timm Biery, members of the "Danny Gatton Band" at the time of the guitarists untimely death. Since that time they have stayed together performing as a trio; now with another former "Gatton Band" Member - Barry Hart on Drums.
The Trio's first CD,"Live in Captivity", recieved the 1998 "WAMMIE" (Washington Area Music Association) Award for best Jazz Contemporary Recording. Their second CD, "Live in Captivity/Again," followed Two Years Later.
Rick recorded his first solo CD "Notes From Home" and has followed that up with another Trio Recording, "So There We Were."
