L.L. Cooper is fronted by guitarist/singer-songwriter Larry Cooper, who has played with and produced numerous artists, including a three-year stint as lead guitarist and producer for perennial Houston fave and award winner Lisa Novak.Cooper has stepped up to the mic to deliver his songs with a deep Southeast Texas twang carrying equal parts sarcasm and sincerity. Surrounding Cooper are some of Houston's finest players:Bassist Jeff Enlow followed Cooper from Lisa Novak's band, and helps drive the boat; Drummer Brian Hays drops in from the blistering rock and roll of Podunk; When Brian's not on board, Mando Perez, who has played with Cooper in countless bands & projects since the Reagan administration, steps in behind the kit; Guitarist "Young Master" Wil Woodward weaves in and out of the songs with an old school approach driven by youthful veracity; Keyboardist Rick Thompson colors the landscapes; and vocalist Kim Hundl brings a side order of attitude with her beautiful harmonies. L.L. Cooper's debut release "Old Hardin Store Road" was released in May 2007, picking up excellent reviews in the Houston Chronicle, and in December made the Chronicle's list as one of the "Top Ten Discs of 2007". In addition, the record picked up great reviews in ENVY Magazine, and in the forever fussy Houston Press, where L.L. Cooper managed to garner five award nominations, including "Best Songwriter" for Cooper, as well as "Best Roots-Rock" and "Best New Act" for the band. After thriving at the toughest venues in the ultra-jaded Houston inner-loop scene, the band is now expanding their performance schedule to include Austin and other Texas markets.
