.. THE MINISTRY OF SKA STORYMinistry Of Ska had been lurking in the shadows of compilation land for the a number of years awaiting their chance to escape and inflict a debut album on the unsuspecting public. To their surprise, the debut album ..Rarin' To Go' has was extremely well received, especially amongst the Ska zines calling it: ..adventurous ska', ..one step beyond the sound alike bands' and ..ska for the 90's'.
The band was the brainchild of Record producer Rusell C. Brennan (Aka Russell Writer or Dark Duke)Who grew up to the sound of all night Ska Parties in Brixton. It was his first time fronting a band after writing songs and producing for sucessful Mod Icon Eleanor Rigby. It started as a solo thing and the 1st track 'Skanking with The Torreadores' featured on the best selling Ska Beats album with many household names from the World of Ska.After a singles deal fell through elsewhere
He was then joined by Dick Crippen, formerly of million selling acts ..Tenpole Tudor' and ..King Kurt'. After contributing very popular tracks to many Future Legend Records cult Themes albums. They finally got around to doing an album of their own 'Rarin to go'. which is now considered a classic ska album and now sells for up to £60 on the collectors market'. It had elements of traditional 60's Ska, plus Judge Dread type humour in some tracks. But they also decided to kick start the new genre of Ska Surf. This is twangy guitar Ska or Chilled beach Ska. After contributions to the best selling Dr. Martens Album 'Generation to Generation' and one more Cult Themes contribution they found themselves too busy with other projects to do any more Ministry of Ska although Russell did sneak out a solo track under M.O.S called 'Ska Surfing at 5-0' which is considered one of M.O.S best tracks and is featured hear exclusively.
Russell has been threatening to relaunch the band and do more recordings so watch this space. However if you do want to get hold of his current collections of new fresh songs then check out his new band 'Psykick Holiday'. (in friends list) Their album should be releases in late 08. Russell is also author of the legendary book ..Music Business Bastards'. Ministry of Ska's 'Rarin To Go' Album or a complete collection is now available for the first time to license to other labels.
