The Death Letters (CD CLBZ 024 / LP CLBZ 025) - Release date 6 February 2009
This teenage alternative rock duo is nothing less than sensational. The 16 year-old Victor Brandt (drums) and 17 year-old Jordi “Duende†Ariza Lora (guitar/vocals) play a colourful palette of Rock, Punk, Blues, Emo and Pop. With a high dose of energy, dark lyrics, mature song material and a youthful élan they deliver their debut album 'The Death Letters'. You think The White Stripes and The Black Keys rock? Then you haven’t experienced this yet. The Death Letters are the most adventurous and dangerous rock duo around!
Hokie Joint - The Way It Goes...Sometimes (CLBZ 023)
Hokie Joint is a five piece band from Colchester, England. On one hand we're talking part Waits, part Wolf vocals, fuzzing slide guitar, dirty harmonica, driving bass and train-like drumming. On the other hand it's gut-wrenchingly emotional vocals, melancholic guitar playing, sweeping harmonica, well constructed, melodic bass and intricate, mesmerising drumming.
Dede Priest - Candy Moon (CFR07DP1)
With her debut album "Candy Moon" Dede proves to be a powerful and soulful singer. An album that consists of an excellent mixture of Blues and (Nu-)Soul, with hints of Gospel and Jazz. Dede Priest has already been compared to great vocalists like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Billie Holiday and Erykah Badu. With “Candy Moon†she will raise some serious dust in the European Blues and Nu-Soul scene of today.
The Rhythm Chiefs - Ships Of Wonder (CLBZ 022)
The Rhythm Chiefs are often referred to as the youngest blues band in The Netherlands. With an average age of only 17 they deliver their debute album "Ships Of Wonder", produced by Mischa den Haring (T-99), with a superb blend of blues and country, bluegrass, rock 'n roll, rockabilly and as well some hints of jazz and funk. They may well be the most talented young roots act in the Benelux countries or even further.
Big Blind - Dressed To Win (CLBZ 021)
This ain’t no Armani Blues, people. It’s raw, uncut, sleazy and if you like your blues with a mean sounding harp, it’s an act not to miss!
T-99 - Vagabonds
This new album by T-99 lures the listener inside a musical sideshow where geeks, freaks, fire eaters and human cannonballs hold sway. An album that can't be missed by those who enjoy the unexpected and prefer to steer clear of clichés...
Cuban Heels - Gutbucket Music
Gritty, primal and soulful are the best words to describe Cuban Heels’ music. Blending their Garage Blues with a raw soul power in the vein of the great soul and gospel shouters.
Cool Buzz Harmonica Posse - Driving Savage Groove
Yet another right fine disc by Amsterdams roots & blues label Cool Buzz. A collection of harmonica songs, where did that idea come from! A premium selection of some of the finest harp players from the Lowlands, supplemented by two great American harpists, offers a unique contribution to this more than an hour long CD.
Harmony Two Tones - Harmony Two Tones
Take six ace musicians from Holland and Belgium. Then grab a huge cocktail shaker and throw in some Blues, Jazz, Swing, Rhythm & Blues, Gospel and a hint of Ska, stir it up and you get the Harmony Two Tones.
