Marilyn Monroe’s real name is Norma Jeane and got changed when she entered the modeling industry, but I’ll tell you more about that later on. Norma Jeane never knew her father and barley ever saw her mother because she was in and out of hospitals. She had an unhappy childhood living in foster homes and an orphanage in Los Angeles. Later she found herself as becoming a famous model and then an actress. She had many secrets in her life such as love affairs and depression. In spite of these obstacles she always tried to make the best of her life.
Marilyn was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson and later her last name changed to Baker. Her mother was declared legally insane and was admitted to an insane asylum. Norma never knew her father because he ended up leaving when he found out that she was on the way. Norma Jeane spent her first seven years of her life with a foster family, at age 7 she went to live with her mother (but that did not last long because she had to go back to the hospital), then she spent the next two years in a orphanage. At age 11, she went to live with a friend of the family. She was given the choice to go back to the orphanage or to get married because she turned 16. So she decided to get married to a neighbor friend, James Doughety that she knew for a while.
Norma Jeane entered Emerson Jr. High School in West Los Angeles. In her last year she wrote for the school newspaper “Emersonianâ€. She had poor grades in her public speaking class mostly because she never overcame anxiety. When she was young, she ended up moving back to the Goddard’s’ house and went to Van Nuys High School. She enrolled at the University High School to begin second semester of 10th grade. Due to the fact that she was going to get married at an early age, she ended up dropping out of school.
During WWII, Norma Jeane got hired to spray plastic glue on the outside of airplanes at the Radio plane. A photographer David Conover took pictures of women including Norma for participating for the war, and he later put them in a magazine. Shortly Norma received a brochure from “Emmeline†(Blue Book model agency) to enroll in her modeling course. Norma accepted the offer and later they had her dye her hair blonde and gave her a new name “Marilyn Monroeâ€. The name Marilyn was chosen by Fox talent scout Ben Lyon, who got Marilyn her screen test. “Marilyn†came from the stage actress Marilyn Miller. The last name “Monroe†was Norma Jeane’s mother’s maiden name. She struggled through time with her modeling and then becoming an actress, but she soon became very famous for her beauty and talents. Some of the movies she was in was “The Seven Year Itchâ€, “Gentlemen Prefer Blondesâ€, and “Some Like It Hotâ€.
I believe that Marilyn Monroe made a huge impact on society because of her beauty and talent. She was in 29 movies and one incomplete movie because of her death. She actually made a huge impact of the movie “The Seven Year Itch†with the famous skirt blowing scene. That scene is even used with other people and is very well know to this day. Marilyn Monroe is still even America’s biggest sex symbol.
It is known that Marilyn had an affair with the president of the United States, JFK. She was also involved with the mafia to some degree. At 36 years old, Marilyn was nude, lying face down on her bed, and clutching a telephone receiver in her hand. And empty bottle was found among several medications, beside her bed, had contained 50 Nembutal capsules. Most of the medications Marilyn took were for insomnia. Her death today is still a mystery and there are many theories of how she died, whether it was murder or suicide. If it was murder, the suspects, in my opinion would be the mafia, Bobby or Robert Kennedy, because of the embarrassment she brought to the family with the affair she had with JFK. If it was suicide, it was probably because she was feeling alone, her having such a poor childhood, or maybe her career got out of hand.
Marilyn Monroe may have grown up poorly when she was a child, but she became a model, and actress, and later was the most famous sex symbol in the world. Nobody knows exactly how she died, but I believe that she took the right path with her career in her life, and now will always be remembered for her beauty and talents. She rests in peace now, but I believe that her spirit will always continue to live on.Get MySpace Layouts from nUCLEArcENTURy .COM OR create your own using MySpace profile editor !!!
