About Me

I was born and raised in Charleston, SC and I love being from the South! I love my family, my friends, my career, and my country. I'm proud of the men and women of our military, and I look up to my big brother and my parents. I don't really play any sports, but I love to swim and used to be ok at volleyball and horseback riding. I'm not skinny and I don't know if I ever will be, but I am striving to be a stronger, healthier ME this year. I play piano, write poetry and plays, and I like hanging out with my Mom!!

My Interests

I love to write, listen to great music, hang out with my friends, spend time with my mother, and go to the beach.

I'd like to meet:

..I'd like to meet...God, Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy, Jackie O, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Jane Austen, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Abraham Lincoln, Marie Antoinette, and Pope JohnPaul II. There are plenty more, but you'll have to get to know me better first!

..

Music:

From Beethoven and Chopin to Bob Seger to The Shins to Maurice Williams and the Zodiacs to Otis Redding to Blue October to Eminem to James Blunt. Needless to say, I love music! Right now, on my iPOD, I'm listening to... Rosie Thomas, Feist, P!NK, Five for Fighting, Oldies from the 50s, ABBA, James Blunt, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buffalo Springfield, U2, Snow Patrol, the Fray, Dusty Springfield, Otis Redding, Jack Johnson, Lifehouse, Aqualung, Wallflowers, Sarah McLachlan, Mazzy Star, Coldplay, Van Morrison, Joe Cocker, Fiona Apple, Simon & Garfunkel, Metallica, Vivaldi, Beethoven, Bach, Jacqueline Du Pre, Mozart, Chopin, Enya, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, the soundtrack from Pride & Prejudice, the soundtrack from The Last Kiss and Garden State (LOVE Zach Braff movies), the soundtrack from The Last of the Mohicans, the soundtrack from The Piano, the soundtrack for Love Song for Bobby Long, and the soundtrack from Wicker Park. I usually buy soundtracks before I see the movie, and if I like the music I usually like the movie. I also love Edith Piaf, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Etta James, Bob Dylan, Patsy Cline, Alabama, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Faith Hill, The Eagles, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Neil Diamond, Marvin Gaye, Ben E. King, Al Green, the Temptations, the Platters, and too many others to name. I am SERIOUSLY into ALL kinds of music!

Movies:

My favorites include The Godfather II, Dangerous Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Mr. Deeds, Finding Neverland, Il Postino, The Last of the Mohicans, Finding Nemo, the Princess Bride, Empire Records, Garden State, Memento, 50 First Dates, Great Expectations (with Gwyneth Paltrow and Ethan Hawke), Dead Poets Society, Good Will Hunting, the Good Shepherd, Shakespeare in Love, Last Call, Top Gun, Pretty Woman, Pride and Prejudice, Love Song for Bobby Long, Match Point, Bridgett Jones'Diary, Shrek and Shrek 2, Splendor in the Grass, To Catch a Thief, Misty, most Charles Bronson movies, Beautiful Mind, Backdraft, Life of David Gale, Titanic, Wicker Park, Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, Goonies, Shopgirl, 13 Going on 30, Just Like Heaven, Legally Blonde, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Two Weeks Notice, Notting Hill, Dangerous Liaisons, Being John Malkovich, Amadeus, The Hours, Moulin Rouge, Gladiator, River Runs Through It, Legends of the Fall, Legend of Bagger Vance, and too many others to name. I love movies though, and I love the big blockbusters just as much as the independents!

Television:

I loved My So Called Life before it went off the air, The Actor's Studio, A&E Biography, ALL of the Law and Order series, Brothers and Sisters, HOUSE, Criminal Minds, Women's Murder Club, Friday Night Lights, Iconoclasts, Cold Case, Without a Trace, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Sex & the City (even the reruns), The Sopranos (now all I got is reruns), CSI, CSI:Miami, Dancing with the Stars, and Shark.

Books:

Well, I have over 200 books in my library, so obviously I LOVE books... The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and The Awakening by Kate Chopin are my two favorites along with Walt Whitman's Leaves of Grass. I love the Harry Potter books, Angels and Demons by Dan Brown as well as his DaVinci Code, Alexander Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo, Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, Edith Wharton's The Age of Innocence, and most "classics" as well as a number of newer novels. I was recently given as a birthday gift Pride and Prejudice (YEAH!), The Ronald Reagan Diaries, Nineteen Minutes, and How to Be Cool. Yes, I am someone you can give books to, and I will love you all the more for it. I love to read, but I do occasionally find myself indulging in Vogue, Vanity Fair, W, and plenty of other fashion mags that I love!

Heroes:

My family and friends have shown much fortitude through various experiences that I admire each and every one of them for every day. Many teachers have inspired me and believed in me, which I will carry with me forever. I believe we all can be heroes, even if it's in a small capacity. Firemen and women, policemen and women, and the men and women of our military are all heroes to me as they serve their community and country daily. As I continue on my journey, I look forward to meeting and being inspired by each and every one of them.
