Monty $$ is a one of the hottest rap artist from Miami, FL. Born and raised in the county of Dade, Monty is a hustler, rapper, producer and songwriter. Growing up, Monty moved around to different neighborhoods in Miami including Carol City, Opalocka, L.M.G., Liberty City, Coconut Grove, Richmond Heights, Perrine, Goulds, Naranja and Homestead.
An avid freestyler in his early youth, Monty began to take his music more seriously at the age 12. It was at this time that he began to use the pen as an outlet to express the difficulties he experienced being raised in a single parent household, in and out of Foster homes, he was exposed to the realities of inner city life.
At age 15, Monty went to the studio for the first time, and around the same time he started a group with three friends called 3 Deep. The group performed at their high school talent show and quickly built a buzz around Miami. In 2001 they were asked to open up for Trina from Slip N Slide Records. During his senior year at Southridge High, Monty took a recording class and began experimenting with Pro Tools and music production.
Following his graduation in 2003, Monty moved to Orlando to pursue further education in audio recording and music production at Full Sail School of Art, Design and Music. During his time in Orlando, he produced and recorded his first mixtapes while working towards a degree in Recording Arts, which he received in 2004.
In 2005, Monty returned to Miami, ready to take his music to the next level. He wasted little time, starting his own imprint, BMR Entertainment with friend and Manager Chris Bruce (CEO of BMR Entertainment). In the Spring of 2006, BMR Entertainment released their first compilation, “Street Business†which sold 4,000 ($10) units in a span of 9 months without any radio spins, and began to spread buzz about Monty throughout Miami.
Monty has performed throughout Miami at numerous venues including Johnson & Wales University, Norland High School, Southridge High School, Campbell Drive Middle School, Pine Lake Elementary School, Fairchild Gardens, platinum producer/rapper Lil Jon’s House on South Beach, Sunset Island Mansion, Sobe Live, Miami Live, Coco’s Lounge, Booby Trap (Homestead), Club Caribbean and Tucker’s Night Club.
He has recorded, mixed, produced and performed with a number of prominent producers and artists including Trina, P.O.D, Slip N Slide Records, platinum producer Bigg D, Dipset, J.T. Money, Calvin Mills, DJ Big Boy (Big Boy Of The Puppies), Drew Money & Mikey Millions aka Tree Town Productions,Thug Child, Most Wanted H.I.T.T.A.Z, Drew Smooth, Trek SS, J-Mizzle, Matt Foley, DJ Raze and The Genevan Heathen , Jose “Beatsmith†Rodriguez , Matt Foley, DJ Raze (Switzerlad) and The Genevan Heathen (Switzerland).
