BORDO was founded in 1995 in Krakow, Poland. Since the beginning, its music has been a bridge spanning avant-garde rock, psychedelic rock, the so-called new wave of the eighties, space rock, illustrative music and hard-to-define music of the future. Inseparable from the music are the lyrics written by R.S. the bands chief ideologist.
BORDO performed at major festivals of alternative music in Poland as well as in smaller establishments, clubs and art galleries. Slide and video art projections are a frequent element of the gigs.
BORDO released two albums at the bands own expense. Since March 2006 a new record called Komu mam to powiedziec? (Who Should I Tell It To?) is available as CD thanks to Monotype Records.
In 2001, a singer whose characteristic female voice was BORDOs widely recognized trademark left the band. Despite this setback, BORDO continues to work on sound experiments that aim at making a contribution to the new music.

BORDO
We are not musicians. We play instruments because we cant play them.
We dont aspire to the status of demigods of the stage, we have no intention to compete with anyone. We want to be creators in our own low, humble sphere. We want art for own use, we search for creative delight. In our music, we put a premium on raspiness, grotesqueness, space, inventing new sounds, sluggishness and heaviness. However, were not averse to beautiful melodies our music can be sweet as chocolate or sour as a lemon.
Artists of the seventh day this expression seems to describe us most appropriately. After the six days struggle with mundane reality, we get together in a place where we screen our own films by means of sounds. We compose music to unexisting films with unexisting dialogues. We tell stories about what is deep inside us, what we have seen, what we fear, who we love and what we hate.
Our stories are often convoluted, difficult to comprehend, difficult to relate by means of a few words and sounds. Were not overly talkative but were strong-willed, which is why, in spite of various adversities, we keep on telling.
We can be a bit clumsy, serious, but also deadly light-hearted. We display our beautiful pink bodies against perfectly suntanned skin of a young woman.
Reality is dull. Now and then, we enter this beautiful world adopting someone elses gestures, postures, countenances. Is it only during a dream, or in the borderline between dream and reality, that everything becomes possible. On this frontier, strange and curious things come to pass. Absorbing reality in small doses, we try to keep our balance. We eavesdrop and snoop on reality with our eyes now half-closed, now wide open and use music to paint a picture. We tap into this picture to find in it what is vital for us.
We are in the city and the city is within us, for better or worse. On the one hand, it fascinates us with a multitude of events; on the other hand, it terrifies us with its power to determine a human life. The city has had a tremendous impact on us and made music our medium and goal.
Great artists of undersized stages.
