About Me
At 22 years of Age William Daniel is a DJ that is causing quite a stir in Scotland and the UK. William started DJing at the age of 12 and has been fanatical about music since listening to early mix tapes from the early 'Rave' days from the likes of Carl Cox, Robert Leiner, Marc Smith, Paul Elstak and many more from events such as Rezerection, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter, Hanger 13, The Metro Etc.
Being Frustrated at being too young to attend these much talked about events in Scotland and coming from a rough area where there wasn't and still isn't alot of things for young people to do William decided to focus his creative energy into this amazing music, so he worked 2 part time jobs (while still at School) saved hard and eventually got enough money to purchase his first set of (Belt Drive) decks at a young 12 years of age. This in turn led William to save up whatever money he had to buy records every Friday from 23rd Precinct and he spent nearly all of his free time practising Djing while most of his friends were out wasting their time on street corners getting fucked up on cheap alcohol and other things.
A chance meeting in 23rd Precinct (after shopping in the store for many years) with Billy Kiltie led to him becoming the Trance and Techno buyer for the legendary shop and this in turn led to William making loads of contacts within the Industry including Record Labels, Publishers and Key DJ's. William also attended the Midem Music Conference in Cannes (France) at the age of 17 which was invaluable experience meeting up with many of the Industries key players.
You can still catch William in the shop every Wednesday and Saturday where he is doing the Trance and Techno Sections.
It was working in 23rd Precinct that William met up with Inside Out Promoters Simon Foy and Duncan Reid and was asked to play at Inside Out* after they both heard one of his Demo's in 2003 playing at a Future Heroes night with Mark Sherry and Japanese DJ's Energy Dai and Taka.
Currently William is Resident for the Mighty Inside Out at the Arches in Glasgow and has played alongside many of the A List DJ's in the world including Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk, Sander Van Doorn, Ferry Corsten, Eddie Halliwell, Marcel Woods, Phynn, Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, Adam Sheridan, The Tidy Boys, Montana, Fred Baker, Max Walder, Guy Ornadel, Scot Project, Motorcycle, Anne Savage, Kuffdam, Mac & Mac, Dogzilla, Marco V, Tylor Leigh and many more.
In January 2004 William (and some friends) established a small night in Glasgow called Refresh with the focus on having a Fun night out with all our friends while playing the tunes that you don't often hear in other Glasgow clubs. After the sucess of the first night we decided run the night monthly and Refresh is still going strong and has booked some of the scene's most established and up and coming names including Sander Van Doorn, Jon O Bir, Fred Baker, DJ Elite, Mark Sherry, Jason Cortez Simon Foy, DAVE The Drummer, Mark EG, Ade Fenton, Barry Connell, Chris Finke, Max Walder, Tylor Leigh, Fraser Latta, Alan Belshaw while still retaining the focus on giving up and coming talent from Scotland a chance.
