Backstory:David and Mick are brothers who grew up in a household fitted with music and from a young age pursued the art of composing and performing music. David played guitar and Mick took up the drums. As within many families, sibling rivalry was potent and the brothers pursued their music with different bands but with maturity both recognised and acknowledged each others talents and motivation to create something special. They recruited band members:Cheeky - rhythm guitarPaddy - BassScott - KeysAndy Henderson - Vocalsand they named themselves "Dirty Kicks".
The Band rehearsed and gigged frequently in venues in and around central Scotland including large capacity venues such as "THe Arches" and "The Garage" gaining for themselves a solid reputation and fan base.
Over time the band evolved and due to artistic differences the line-up changed e.g Andy Henderson formed "The Dykeenies" with his brothers who are now signed to Sony BMG.
A number of different vocalists were trialled but didn't quite fit or share the vision for the future.
Mick secretly harboured an ambition and talent for singing and asked to be considered as the bands front man.
During this transition period, Cheeky lost interest and was replaced by Craig Denny. Mick took over vocal duties and Sean Barton took the role of drummer. The line-up was final and renamed "The Zico's"
David got back to work writing some new material and the band quickly recorded "Green Screen" at Jamie Duffin's home studio in the West End of Glasgow. Jamie Duffin ha an excellent musical pedigree and his father Graeme Duffin was guitarist with "Wet Wet Wet".
The track received excellent feed-back both on myspace and when performed live. It was played on Xfm Radio Scotland which earned the band a slot supporting "The Law" at "The Box" Glasgow which was recorded live for Xfm Scotland.
The band have continued to perform, develop and gain experience around the Central Scotland circuit ultimately playing the world famous "King Tut's Wah Wah Hut" in Glasgow which has showcased numerous bands, particularly discovering Oasis and Primal Scream.
We would like to be able to continue to grow and develop our music and showcase it to a wider audience and hope to revive the mess that we call the music scene!!
