Sounds Like: "Four slices of rather impressive heavy churning slow grinding “bastardized metal†(their chosen term). A heavy heavy High On Fire/Electric Wizard/Crowbar style and a rather professional sounding set of early moves from a clearly rather good band (from Hastings)."
Organ Magazine - Demo 2007
"Four tracks of noxious, detuned sludge from this new(ish) Hastings mob, owing much to the likes of Grief, Cavity and the similarly-simian Iron Monkey, all whilst possessing enough individuality to hoist them above the glut of samey Sabbath-worshippers currently doing the rounds. As well as the obligatory low-slung riffs and murky glass gargles you get moments of gloomy spaciousness a la mid-period Neurosis and hints of a rank death metal core that recall the filth-encrusted greatness of Autopsy, neatly rounding off a gruesome little morsel that should be whetting the appetites of all those with a craving for the heavier things in life."
Collective-zine.co.uk - Demo 2007
"Rise of the Simians bash out some of the nastiest, base-level sludge to have polluted these isles in quite some time. The bands most recent four-song demo a knuckle-dragging slugfest somewhere between Cavity’s caustic bile and primordial death metal, clinging like tar to the lungs and spewing bitterness with each blackened riff."
Zero Tolerance Magazine 22 - Demo 2007
"ROTS are a floor scraping, heavy bastard of a band, churning out riffs that sound like they were played on grime encrusted guitars. If you like your metal slow and heavy, dirt fouled and smelling like the cheese lost under the cooker then give this a listen."
