About Me

VACATION!!!
My wife and I just got back from vacation; we went to Yellowstone National Park for 4 days then 2 days in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the Grand Teton National Forest; then 2 days at Sun Valley and we finished the trip up with 2 days in Dayton, Washington, where her great Grandfather was a settler. We had a great time and saw plenty of wildlife: buffaloes, elk, moose, pronged horn antelope, coyotes, eagles, hawks, badgers, bears and wolves! Wow! What a trip. I will try to upload some photos soon
I'm a married biker who loves animals. I have 2 dogs, 4 cats and 2 goats (no, the goats are not indoor animals. They have a very nice barn).
I am Dutch, English and Native American, (Lakota, I believe, but my dad died without telling us where he came from. All I know is that his family moved off the reservation when he was young, and the reservation was in Nebraska).
I am a Christian, but I don’t really follow any one “brand”- Assembly of God, Southern Baptist, Free Methodist, I’ve been to all of these and several others. I guess I believe in Non-denominational teachings. I have also studied Shamanism and I find I have no problem incorporating those beliefs into my own personal belief system. This is how it should be, because if you trace the Christian Beliefs of today you will find that plenty of the old earth-based religions from an area were incorporated into the Church’s teachings. It was the only way the local populations would accept the new religion.
I strongly believe we have an obligation to protect the animals who share this planet with us, and that includes protecting the environment.
My wife and I love traveling and visiting new places. We also enjoy finding new wines (yes, we visit wineries everywhere we go!) We especially enjoy going someplace warm in the winter months, since it’s always cold and wet here, so we usually take a lot of vacations in the winter.

My Interests

Well, my first love is the animals. I love spending time with my dogs (ok, and my cats-but they don’t chase sticks!), either going for a walk or playing in the yard.

My next love is riding; there is no better feeling than the wind in your face with someone you love either ring on back as a passenger or along side as a partner in life.

I recently started making knives. My shop doesn't include a forge yet, so I am doing stock removal, but I have had a class on forging knives and I plan on adding that skill soon. It's facsinating how much you can shape and stretch metal using a forge, hammer and anvil.

Next, I’m also into photography. Here is one of my pictures from a recent raft trip on the Skagit River:

I have been very lucky in my life to have had some of the best pets to ever walk this earth, and I've had to deal with the pain of losing them. One website that I have found helpful is http://www.petloss.com/

I'd like to meet:

I would love to meet anyone who loves animals, especially those that work to better the lives of the animals who share our planet. I also welcome people who are outside the mainstream. If you love animals and you have an open mind you are welcome here.

Music:

I have eclectic tastes in music, depending on my mood and what I’m doing. Normally I listen to CW, Native American or rock, but occasionally I like heavy metal, jazz, world, oldies, or whatever I can find.

Here is a link to my friend, the Doberman and his music.

Eastern Gray Wolf
The gray wolf, including the eastern subspecies, the eastern timber wolf (Canis lupus lycaon), is a large animal. Adults weigh 50-l00 pounds (23-46 kg). Males are generally heavier than females. Coloring is usually a mixed gray or grizzly color, though a few are black or white. Gray wolves appear quite similar to large German shepherd dogs. They have a pointed muzzle, erect pointed ears, bushy tails and moderately long legs.Gray wolves usually live in family groups or packs of 2-8 individuals, though some packs contain 20 or more members. Packs are territorial, frequenting areas of 20-200 square miles.

Heroes:

I would have to say that anybody that works to end suffering of animals and to improve the world around us would be one of my heroes.
