Stressedafrican started off as Stressedafrican MD and LP, the previous being metal and the latter being New-Wave beat. This has been split up into Stressedafrican (metal and heavy beat stuff) and imagemi (New Wave beats... no wait, just fat friggin chill beats).

Brief: A lot of work still has to be done. CD is up and coming. Studio is finished. Something like 15 new songs have been made. Check the hyves website for more music and photo's. (ignore the dutch stuff and get to the music). Check out the exori weblog

Roots
Stressedafrican is mainly Gj, the composer and J , the singer. It started out in Malawi, Africa, where Gj was born. He began making music when he was 13 using an old tape deck, keyboard and guitar and a lot of wires.
South Africa & 1st demo
Gj compiled his first 10-track demo album called Variations on Rain
(Stressedafrican-LP), where every song starts and ends with rain. "The Porch, the View and the Girl" is one of these songs. This demo is playing in various cafes in Stellenbosch, as well as in the Netherlands and Australia.
Internet
Gj, who was in South Africa in 2006, has enough material to last several albums and was busy compiling metal/rock songs with J, who is in the Nederlands, 11,000km North. They did everything via chat programs and internet, guiding of what has to be sung, sending mp3's of the vocals down which then get mixed into the track. "When Time Stands Still" and "The Tree where Man was born" was recorded like this.
Wierd vocals
Gj also started experimenting with doing his own vocals. Gj was diagnosed with cancer in the larynx at the age of 9 months. Consequently, his voicebox was removed and he recovered completely. This resulted in a rather unique screechy 'voice'. 'Elephants' is an example of this.
