Early March-San Francisco 1983
The first son to a family of six, Gotti Mack was destined for greatness. Raised by his mother, Linda Kerr, he grew up in a single parent home like many young African Americans at the time. “We weren’t poorâ€, he recalls, “but we dam sure wasn’t rich eitherâ€. Growing up in an unincorporated area of
Hayward known as “Kelly Hill†in the late 80’s an early 90’s, hip hop reached out to him in his elementary years. “Me and my folks J.T (of T.L.T) did a gig at the school talent show that’s what really set it off. I mean I had been rapping by myself in the house on a karaoke machine but that was the first time I displayed my talent.â€
And he’s been displaying it ever since. Gotti Mack has featured on countless underground tracks with numerous artists. He also has songs on the soundtracks for the movies Rude Boy and Gangstas Paradise, as well as a small acting role. “Whatever I touch is gonna be hot fasho.Im way comfortable with my style and my wordplay so the rap part is easy. Now I got to get it to the publicâ€.
Gotti's first real album titled MACK MODE is in the works right now."I did most of the recording at 17andHeartz studios in Hayward, CA (shots out to Sam an Rigo). I still feel I got a lot of music to do plus the mixing. But it’s on the wayâ€. Gotti predicts that he will work with local artist such as Rhay (Of T.L.T), DOUBLE O (F World), Vic Da Barron, Nyte Ryda, Stackman, Mr. Sandman, Roddy Bo, Erk Tha Jerk, Ron Doe, Major Spitz, Whip, Cuz B, and many more."Expect to hear nothing but heat!"
