From there his big sister got him his first gig in a club called TOTS 2000 in Southend, Essex, he was aged 14 at the time & the event was for over 21s.From there he was offered a resident job at the club, aged 15 by this time he stayed there till he was 18 (although highly illegal, this was so much fun!). From there Mat was offer many other gigs in the area including.MEGA BITE (Hardhouse event based @ The Place Ballrooms 2000 capacity) He Dj’d alongside Djs SLIPMAT, JUDGE JULES & DJ RAP @ this event.GLOW (trance & hard dance event based @ ADLIB nightclub 1000 capacity) He DJ’d along side DES MITCHELL, KIRT DIRT, DJ LUCK & MC NEAT to name a few.By this time mat was playing all over Essex in clubs & events like, DUKES (CHELMSFORDS) COLOURS (BASILDON) TIME (ROMFORD) JACK OF CLUBS (SOUTHEND) ZERO’S (SOUTHEND) TO NAME JUST A FEW.About the age of 20 mat moved to Ipswich where he started his new residents at a club called KARTOUCHE which he played at for 3 years before moving on to bigger things. When in Ipswich mat under took his first Promoters job by doing an event called ESSENCE, which was a once a month event based @ Kartouche nightclub Ipswich. It played host to the best Djs in the world including JUDGE JULES, LISA PIN UP - LISA LASHES, EDDIE HALLIWELL, CAPTAIN TINRIBS KARIM, OD404 plus many more. Mat left ESSENCE on a high & joined the BIG event based in CAMBS. Mat also at this time started to write for a dance magazine, CLUBLIFE, based in Suffolk. Mat did interviews reviews & fashion for the mag and wrote for them for nearly two years, he interviewed people like KYLIE MINOGUE, DANNI MINOGUE, JENNIFER LOPEZ, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, THREE OF THE SUN NEWSPAPERS, TOP PAGE THREE MODELS (JOE GUEST JACKIE & JORDAN). He went to Spain to do club reviews over there with them & went around the country reviewing nites up & down Club land. Mat now writes for OUTLINE MAG based in Norfolk, and has interviewed RAY KEITH, & JACK BEATS to name but a few.After sometime, Mat moved up into Norwich and since hasn’t looked back. Since coming to Norwich he has really found himself as a DJ & Promoter. His first job being Resident @ THE LOFT nightclub, where he stayed resident for 2 and a half years. Also resident @ YATES WINE LODGE and now is resident at TRAFFIK - & now new nightclub VA.VO.CE which opens at the end of july 08. ALL in the city of Norwich, Mat has undertaken lots of other work including running many events in & around the city, firstly EAR - CANDY which ran for just over a year also for its first birthday they got in the very famous but very nervous CUT & RUN which was a world DJ excusive set @ the Loft nightclub. He runs UPSTAIRS-DOWNSTAIRS - ABBA 2 GABBA & TWISTED RHYTHM. All of which run at various times of the month. Has a regular slot on WWW.NORWICHDJS.COM which hosts live & recorded sets from mat.Mat joined HEADFIRST MUSIC & EVENTS, which was Norwich’s biggest break beat night EVER, holding events @ MUSTARD THE UEA & WATERFRONT every two months. This event was massive it had Dj’s & acts including PLUMP Djs.KRAFTY KUTZ, DE LA SOUL, HORRIS ANDY plus so many more, they sold out every gig they done. One event sold out in three and a half minutes of tickets going online, that night was DE LA SOUL @ THE UEA ON THURS 14TH NOV 06.Mat has also played a few @ festivals, the first was WESTON WHEELS 05 EASTERN HAZE 06 (SUFFOLK), which he headlined the Sunday tent . & GLOBAL GATHERING 07 . Which in turn has lead to many other gigs in & around the country.In Norwich Mat has residency at a few event nights including: SHALOM SOUNDS ABS HEADFIRST UPSTAIRS - DOWNSTAIRS TWISTED RHYTHM NORWICHDJS.COM STRICTLY VINYL RADIO.COM (weekly internet radio show, with around 800 listener every week)Mat has released and pressed two of his own tunes one a remix of, TRACY CHAPMAN’S (FAST CAR) Which was played on RADIO 1’s JUDGE JULES “TRIED & TESTED†(he has a radio one certificate signed by the judge himself! Bonus!)The other is a remix of STEVE NICKS (TELL ME LIES), both tunes where made for his mother, for her birthday, Both are played out by mat on a regular basis.His just finished his first hardhouse set in over a year & a half with the mitey ROOBARB @ The Waterfront (norwich) which BEN BENNETT HEADLINED (impact records)Mat MOVED AWAY FROM THE HARDER SEEN AS THOUGHT IT HAD LOSTED IS EDGE.With many other events, clubs & pubs up & down the country & in Norwich things are looking good for this DJ.DJs & ACTS MAT HARD HAS SUPPORTED TO DATE:LISA LASHES LISA PIN-UP MARK EG JUDGE JULES YOMANDA HI-GATE(AKA JUDGEJULES & YOMANDA) EDDIE HALLIWELL KARIM OD404 SLIPMAT BRANDON BLOCK & ALEX P CUT & RUN PLUMP DJs CAPTAIN TINRIBS JACK BEATS FITHLY DUKES BEN BENNETT DA LA SOUL (AFTER PARTY SET) STEVE COCKRAN KIRK OUT
