About Me

Bio:
by LAM
Born out of frustration with the legacy of new-wave rock music in the 1990's and the growing might of hyper-commercial pop music, Jestry was formed in 2001 in order to combat the forces of modernity that were threatening to crush and obliterate the authentic. With a unique blend of Folk, Rock and Industrial, Jestry is a self-explicating paradox. Virtuoso guitar alternately graces and pierces the audial stratus above the visceral and often unforgiving honesty of lyrics that hark back to the prose of Stravinsky and the musicality of Joyce. The underlying menance of modern society is ever-present and challenged in the synthesised accompaniment that swirls about the guitar in a musical mist of uncertainty. Jestry released its first album, Songs From a Cabin, in 2006, shunning the studio and the economics therein by recording the entirety of the album on tapes using a 4-track in a log cabin in the Adirondack Mountains. The effect produced is an all-encompassing spectrum of sounds, from gritty to graceful, from unrestrained to understated, the collection of which progresses through stories of professional frustration and personal loss, moments of complete solitude within nature, and resolution of mind and action.

Money =/= Music.

People ask me about "how much I've made from music" and say things like "you could get rich from royalties."  I've never written a song while thinking about money.  Unless you count thinking...

Where does art come from?

I wrote a song last night, until about 4am.  My fingers are killing me, I'm totally drained and exhausted, but I can't stop playing and I realized (again) sometime between Thursday's performing a...
