About Me

I am a novelist living near Montpelier, Vermont.I am the author of MIRROR LAKE ( S & S, 2003), I'LL NEVER BE LONG GONE (Harper/Collins 2006) and ENVIOUS MOON (Harper/ Collins MAY, 2007). My fourth book, THE RELUCTANT THIEF, is in progress. MIRROR LAKE was recently named one of 30 books deserving to be rediscovered by Waterstones in the UK, alongside works by Kurt Vonnegut, Richard Yates, Jose Saramango, Alice Hoffmann and others I'm honored simply to be mentioned as one of. My fiction has been translated into Italian, German, Polish, Slovak language and Portuguese and published throughout the UK by Random House and has won many honors. MIRROR LAKE is currently being adapted for film.
I am also the president of the newly formed Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier, Vermont. This is a long story--but hopefully an important one for arts and letters in this country.
Since you are here, you should also check out my brother, Dan, and his two bands, THE BUTTERFLIES OF LOVE, who I feature in all my books, and his side project, THE MOUNTAIN MOVERS. Both can be found on MYSPACE.
On a personal note, I'm married to an amazing woman, Tia, and we have a eighteenth month old daughter, Sarah, who steals my heart every time she smiles....

What others have said about my work:

"Thomas Christopher Greene is a major new voice in American fiction."---Nelson Demille
"Mr. Greene's is a bright new voice in American literature, a voice that can render exquisitely the sharpest truths of the human heart."---Bret Lott
"I think we're going hear a lot more about this very fine novelist."--James Lee Burke
PRAISE FOR ENVIOUS MOON
"This richly detailed novel, its tone gentle but heavy with foreboding, is a powerful tale of chance, love, loss and redemption."--Publisher's Weekly
"Shakespeare, as reinterpreted by Greene, still has the power to shock."--Kirkus Reviews
PRAISE FOR I'LL NEVER BE LONG GONE
"In the tradition of such modern-day classics as Kent Haruf's EVENTIDE and Mark Spragg's AN UNFINISHED LIFE, I'LL NEVER BE LONG GONE is the story of a unique and little-known part of America and the noble and embattled people who live there."--Howard Frank Mosher
"It's a great recipe: two cups of Cain and Abel, a pound of prodigal son, half a stick of East of Eden and a pinch of All my Sons."--The Washington Post Book World
PRAISE FOR MIRROR LAKE
"This book gets Vermont just right, with its punishing winters and ravishing summers. Greene's characters, trapped in this powerful landscape, live out a story of love, betrayal and violence that kept me turning to the end."--Susan Cheever
"Mirror Lake is a lovely book, hard to put down, beautifully written, memorable as much for its evocation of natural beauty as for its timeless stories."--Providence Journal-Bulletin (Books of the year.)
