Trading town in the Middle-Ages, residential city from the brandenburg electors, Central-town and residence from the kings of Prussia and Capitol of the German Empire. Capitol of the first German Republic with a parliamentary democracy, superlative boom-town in the wild 20’s, centre of power during the Nazi dictatorship and point of origin of war and holocaust. Severe destruction after the World War 2, divided town, the wall and fire point in the cold war between east and west. And now: Capitol of the reunited Germany….

The spectacular and capricious history it’s the formatting part of Berlin! Always, but eminently now after the wall falls tried Berlin one thing: to find itself. It is hard to find the answer of the question “who is Berlin?” Berlin is old and young at the same time. Berlin is foretime, presence and future, hip, provincial, modern and old-fashioned at the same moment. But first of all is Berlin the town of alteration. If self-motivated or as result of the history, this town always change the face.

The actual Berlin is a town of many possibilities for his occupants and his visitors:

Culture, architecture, scene and subculture, fashion, history, science… Berlin is location of many movie- and TV-productions, music-city, party-town and be in the world-public eye like in the last century.

A trip to Berlin is always worthwhile!
Handelsstadt im Mittelalter, Residenz der Brandenburgischen Kurfürsten. Zentrum Sitz der Könige in Preußen und Hauptstadt des Deutschen Kaiserreiches. Hauptstadt in der ersten Deutschen Republik mit parlamentarischer Demokratie. Stadt der Superlative in den wilden 20er Jahren. Machtzentrum der Nazi-Diktatur und so mit Ausgangspunkt von Krieg und Holocaust. Schwere Zerstörungen nach dem Weltkrieg. Teilung der Stadt, Mauerbau und Brennpunkt des kalten Krieges zwischen Ost und West. Nun Hauptstadt des wiedervereinigten Deutschlands… Die atemberaubende und wechselhafte Geschichte dieser Stadt ist das was Berlin heute prägt.

Berlin versuchte immer eines und tut dies gerade mit dem Wieder Zusammen wachsen nach Jahrzehnte langer Teilung: Sich selbst zu finden. Die Frage was ist Berlin wird wohl nie kurz zu beantworten sein. Es ist Alt und Jung zu gleich, Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft, es ist hip, provinziell, modern und altmodisch in einem. Es ist und war aber vor allem immer eines: Eine Stadt der Veränderung, ob aus sich selber heraus oder als Resultat der Geschichte.

So bietet das heutige Berlin für seine Bewohner und Besucher unzählige Möglichkeiten für jedes Alter und für viele Interessen:

Kultur, Architektur, Szene und Subkultur, Mode, Geschichte, Wissenschaft, Konsum… Es ist Schauplatz vieler Film- und Fernsehproduktionen, Musik-City, Party-Stadt und steht auch heute wie schon im letzten Jahrhundert oft im Interesse der Weltöffentlichkeit.

Und eines ist Berlin mehr denn je: Eine Reise Wert!
