APRIL HILL LOVE 360 CD £11.95
A new star is born. Atlanta's April has one of those distinctive classic soul voice's that remind you of greats like Randy Crawford, Candi Staton and Esther Phillips in places, but with the contemporary sassyness of Jill or Erykah. This is a killer album produced by Marlon Saunders with great songs, lyrics and real instruments. 'The Search' is a great soulful dancer with a great B line and the horn backed' No More Tears' could become a weekender anthem. 'Feeling You' , 'I Can't Stop Loving You' and 'Happier With Her' are classic soul ballads. 'I Wanna Be Free' , 'You Got Me' and 'Manipulation' are contemporary hard hitting hypnotic mid tempo grooves that really grow on you. This album will appeal to all generations of soul fans and is a strong contender for album of the year.
LEROY BURGESS - THROWBACK: HARLEM 79-83
Great album ft 12 unreleased tracks from the legendary singer/songwriter/producer recorded in the early 80's. Some are his orignal versions of tracks he wrote for others like 'Its So Easy (You Can Do It)', 'Fly Girl' , 'In The Moment' and 'Youre my Number One', which all stand up well against the released versions because of Leroy's soulful voice is so good. Of the seven new songs the best are the classic Burgess Boogie tracks like 'Scandal', 'Midnight in The Streets', 'Under Da radar' and 'Hold Up' and the soulful 'Keepin On' with its jazzy keyboard touches. The soulful mid tempo 'All Into You' also grooves nicely and the live cover of the Isley's 'Hello its me' is taken at a slightly faster pace and really works. This brilliant project contains some of leroy's best work and is unmissable if yuo are into Burgess, Boogie or Uptempo early 80's Soul.

Added here are the non album singles ‘Thanks Dad’ , ‘This Girl Of mine’ , ‘Get Down Baby’ , ‘Im A Young Man’ and the brilliant and often sampled ‘Im Gonna Get You’, plus 3 tracks that were unreleased at the time the best of which is ‘How High’.
