A Q&A FOR OUR FANS
Who inspires you?
I guess you could say a number of people inspire of us, just great talented musicians who have changed the world of music, well for us personally. Umm theyd probably have to be the Scott and Amy from Active Kidz, Ronan Keating, The Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys, Nikki Webster, Peter Andre and Westlife definitely. Also the girls from the Saddle Club with Hello World, thats an amazing piece, that song changed our view on the music industry.
Where does your style come from?
I would definitely describe our style as sassy; its a very funky look. Obviously not everyone can pull it off. Our look is a mixture between Rachel Bilson and Paris Hilton for sure. Rachel Bilson just because she does boho so well, like us. Paris Hilton in the sense that she just wears totally hot, out there outfits all the time. Being individuals Id say that we definitely wear clothes no one else can pull off. I guess you could say we just add our funk and flavour to everything we put on.
How do you manage school while still being in a hugely successful pop duo?
Well you know, it can get hard at times. But were just so fortunate to be surrounded by people who are wanting to support us. They, like us, can see what a gift we have for performing and bringing people enlightenment. School can get a bit crazy, but luckily weve been blessed with really good, clear minds. So its not that bigger problem. But at the same time, singing is what we do, its what were good at, its what weve always been good at so if you just keep those positive thoughts with you, you can achieve and manage anything, and I think were a really good example of that.
What do you love most about performing?
Performing is definitely a massive adrenaline rush for us. We were born with a gift and sharing our talent with people is an amazing feeling. Just the happiness and joy on their faces when we show them what were made of, is incredible. I guess you could say its really the people who we do this for. I think it's safe to say that the world IS ready for us.
Like all singers in the entertainment industry, you do get a bit of criticism, how do you deal with that?
Well you know, unfortunately we are in an industry where there is a lot of jealousy. Obviously not everyone is going to like what you do, and thats alright. We understand we may come across as a threat to some people. We do have the whole package, we can dance, sing, we have our own individual style, plus we have the looks. At the end of the day, it just wont do you any good to listen to comments like that, we believe in ourselves 100% and thats all that matters.
You have a lot of people idolising you, how does this make you feel?
We do definitely take it as a massive compliment, and I think we carry that title as an idol well. I think people do idolise us because we come across as just great, friendly, stylish, hot, modest and talented people. Were an example that if people believe in themselves enough, they can do anything. Although in our case we were lucky enough to be born like this (laughs). I guess it just comes down to the fact that not everyone can do what we do, so they see us as role models they can always look up to for inspiration, even if they know they wont ever make it like we have. Its just a really nice feeling to be making a difference in peoples small lives.
Describe your style of music?
Our music style is very broad. We sing pretty much everything, a mix between punk/rock, Christian rap, reggae, jazz, country, acoustic, powerpop, afro-beat, bluegrass, death metal, electronica etc. Theres definitely something for everyone. Weve been so blessed to be able to sing all kinds of music. We also write our own songs whenever we get the chance. Were trying to build up a large collection for our album when it comes out sometime in the future. There are no definite plans for it yet, but we are confident well get signed soon. I would say we definitely perform originals better than covers, probably because we write them to fit around our voices. But at the moment were just taking each day as it comes and learning new things all the time.
