Hello, virtual friends-
Brian and I have moved to the Saint Louis area, and though it's just the two of us again (plus our munchkin) we're still working on new music and practicing. If we stay in this region, we'll be looking for another bassist as well as a drummer. If we move again... Wherever we go, there we are.
A new MySpace page is coming as soon as we determine what our new name will be. It will have an updated bio with more information as to what in the world has been going on with us, but until then you'll just have to wait in suspense, heh heh.
Even though we've been through so much to get here and many things are still uncertain, Brian and I are on the right path that will eventually lead us to our destination, whatever that may be. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and our music! We might have given up a long time ago if not for you.
~Rachel
Credit for starting the band goes first to Brian, who has been creating his own unique music for over 15 years, and whose leadership and creative direction provides the structure upon which the other members build. However, Infinite BlueShift is a true collaboration. Replace even one member, and it would be a completely different band.
Brian and Rachel started out as a husband-and-wife duo, minus the marriage certificate, in the summer of 2005. In Rachel's versatile vocals, intuitive ear for melody and poetic lyrics, Brian finally found the voice for his innovative, even revolutionary musical vision. After long years of searching for other musicians who could share or even understand his unique aesthetic design, he had met his true companion at last. But, they would soon find out, the real search had just begun.
It didn't take another 15 years to complete the band's lineup, but almost 3. They auditioned many drummers and bassists, many of whom discovered that they had no idea how to complement Brian and Rachel's musical style, deciding that, "It's something I would want to listen to, but not that I would try to play."
Then Danny showed up. As soon as they started playing, he jumped right in with just the right unconventional beats and meticulously chaotic rhythms that transformed the music into a true force to be reckoned with. He had no problem working within sequence structures or meshing with complementary programmed punctuation. It was immediately apparent that Danny is not only a phenomenal drummer, he is the right drummer for this band. That he had his own recording studio and made it available was also an added bonus. He is a self-taught music producer and an invaluable resource to the band.
He soon proved his essential worth beyond the music, becoming Brian and Rachel's best friend-- He is, plainly and simply, one of the best human beings you may ever meet. No one is a truer friend or a more dedicated individual in all areas of life. Danny has stayed a member of Infinite BlueShift and a friend to the other bandmates through thick and thin. With or without a bassist, through back injuries and personal tribulation, Danny is there.
The three bandmates continued on together for almost 2 more years, on occasion thinking they had found the bassist, then watching their newest member struggle and give up, time after time. It was hard to keep the energy going over obstacles both within and outside the band. After many ups and downs, their progress seemed to plateau. Something needed to happen to rekindle the engine of Infinite BlueShift. And, as somethings are known to do, one did happen.
--Her name is Chloe. When she came, she brought a lot with her. She brought her bass and her violin, but she also brought a singular insight and awareness into the sometimes strange feel of Infinite BlueShift's music. Her precise, resonating bass lines harmonize with but are distinct from the other elements of their music. Her eerie violin takes the sense of their sound to the place it was always meant to go, drawing listeners in so that no one is merely a spectator, but all are participants in the experience. Chloe has cultivated her art through the exploration of her own identity, and her passionate pursuit of personal honesty has given her music a certain humanity and clarity which is unparalleled. She has decisively completed the band.
By the way.. please check out our "Top Friends". You won't find the usual national bands that so many others love to tout on their MySpace ..as if they actually knew the members of Korn or Otep or MudVayne. Our top friends are real people, real causes, of real importance. Some we know personally; others we don't. There are some bands up there too, but most aren't widely known and we think they deserve recognition just as much or more so than anyone you might hear on the radio. There are people who support us and what we're doing, even in our obscurity, who are our real friends, who didn't add us just because it's the cool thing to do, but because they actually like our music. Please give them your support!
