Dayo (pronounced Di-yo) was born and raised Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was born into a good sized family of mixed backgrounds. As a young girl
she could always be caught singing her mother’s favorite songs, from
Anita Baker to Aretha Franklin.Dayo loves singing music with soulful vocals. She is most influenced
by Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Bonnie Raitt and EnVogue. Singing has
always played an important role in her life, from singing as a little girl growing up in to performing in talent shows as a teenager. In fact, in junior
high school, Dayo was named "Most Likely to Record a Gold Record".Over the past four years, she has worked with Shomari Andrews of
Razafus Productions based out of Atlanta, flying back and forth from
Minneapolis. Dayo is working with Shomari on various different projects
that include collaborating with local Atlanta Hip-Hop artists. Dayo is
currently studying voice with Karen Lyu, an accomplished singer & voice
instructor. Dayo is studying voice with Oxsana Bryn and world
renowned Opera singer, as well.Dayo’s current projects include recording at A440 studios in
Minneapolis with Will Ways Music. She is finishing up the recording of her Debut
Album, titled "Your Girl Dayo". She has also performed at various
night clubs in Minneapolis and the surrounding areas. She has been well
received by her varying audiences. During the last two years Dayo has had the
opportunity to work with likes of Bruce Henry and LaSalle Gabriel, a
grammy award winning artist.Dayo’s goal for her music is to bring back music that has more
substance and is still current. Although, being born in the Hip-Hop era she has been
influenced by Hip-Hop. She strives to sing music that reflects all the
music that she has been influenced by. Her debut album will reflect a
mix of styles and influences
