The solo career of Ryan Perrey began to materialize in the early Spring of 2006 after parting ways with Austin Texas based Indie/electro Am Syndicate. ''It was being broke, abusing Scotch, and control Issues for me. At the same time, all I would listen to was Elliott Smith and Radiohead. It just kinda happened after my mother heard me play ''A Sailor Drowned In The Downtown'' for the first time in her living room. She put a Taylor acoustic on her Credit Card for me. That guitar has changed me life.'' After 2 U.S. tours and many shows something in him changed. ''I felt very insignificant after I'd travel and see just a over abundance of solo artist flyers in every town. Also, I really missed being in a band''. After working 2 jobs 60-80 hours a week the finance was available to get on board with Engineer Matt Smith at Hot Tracks Studio, all 2 inch tape to record what was to be ''A Sailor Drowned In The Downtown LP''. With a tight deadline ahead and so many elusive ideas un touched, it only made since to condense the 5 best songs into an EP. ''Matt was mixing while I was using Map quest to route my 9 date tour that began in El Paso the next morning. So in January 2008 Ryan packed his belongings and said his good bye's to friends and the wonderful city of Austin Texas and Bloodshot Ink Work EP was Finished. The trip to Seattle Washington was a source of beauty, Inspiration and perspective. Upon arrival, accompaniment was a must. craigslist.com leant way to all the current line up. The band consists of Kyle Bain, a master mind on any instrument presented to him from Eastern Washington. ''He shows up to audition at my apartment with greasy hair and bland clothing. We went over 2 songs and I got really excited about what he was doing. I ran into my bedroom to tell my girlfriend something like '' This kid is fucking good''''. Tim Mendonsa, a man with really clear vision, sound ear and solid, sexy bass playing. ''Tim replyed to my add and when I checked out his music page, I fell in love with his voice. After doing lunch at Bimbo Cantina, I was thinking to myself all day, he's the guy!". The last but certainly not least discovered member: Joe Jellema, a drummer with unmatched creative, ''tasty'' (as Joe likes to say) playing and approach. ''We met at Vita for coffee to chat. He talked about Wilco and Spoon a lot so I was stoked to jam and thankfully he was amazing''. There will be many shows and ambitions unleashed in the next coming year of 2009. Plans of touring, recording the full length this fall ect. It's looking to be an exciting year. Please come out to the gig's and show support when you can.
