As far as music in general, there's Sheryl Crow and Jackson Browne. They know how to record a song without over-producing it. real and raw. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers know that, too. it don't matter what "genre" you wanna put yourself in, THAT's THE WAY IT's DONE.

WHITE STRIPES is one of the most refreshing things to happen to music in a long, long, long, long time.
country music has been ruined and poisoned over the last fifteen years. there is a lot of good shit out there that nobody gets to hear because the ass holes will not play it on their watered down "country" radio stations. All they can seem to play is moronic versions of 70's pop music with fake southern drawls and the same studio musicians, bullshit line-dance type songs aimed at overweight housewives who wish they were someone else, and wanna-be cowgirls in plastic hats. We have the same handful of idiots writing songs for pretty boys and barbie dolls, who are being backed by the same handful of studio musicians, using the same licks and chord changes on every song. Over-produced, highly polished, assembly line, mass-produced garbage. And nobody seems to notice! They all go to the line dance bar and swallow it like a hooker on a five-grand date. Wake up, people, IT IS ALL FAKE.
