About Me
Nickelworks is a Seattle Washington based hardware and custom drum manufacturer.
We offer drummers a unique and technologically driven sound, based on physics and art. You may recognize the often imitated, but never duplicated Nickelworks snare strainers, featured on the finest drums from DW, Gretsch, Premier, Brady, and many custom manufacturers. The drums we build feature patented processes, materials, and methods, which when paired, create a tone more full and resonant than any other on the market.
We are the first drum manufacturers to use bonded sheets of metal for our drum shells. The plymetal is bonded at the molecular level under heat and pressure, without the need or limitations of glue, which acts as a dampening agent. We can combine metals such as copper, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and brass in a variety of combinations. Unlike conventional drum shells, our shells feature a patented flexible seam construction. This allows the shell to resonate more fully, without experiencing phase cancellation. In other words, similar tones and frequencies do not mute each other, creating an unparalleled clarity.
When held and struck, the flexible seam shell will resonate for upwards of 10 seconds, with a clear tone and harmonic intervals. There are distinct nodal points on the shell that are comparable to the harmonic function of a guitar string.
What does all this mean? Your Nickelworks drums sound huge! The tone is clear and consistent, and extreme dynamic contrasts can be accomplished with much less effort. They sound monstrous on the record, and fill out your sound on stage.
The finishes can be completely personalized, and can be created using the drummers own art, band logo, texture, wrap, or themed graphics. We now offer a variety of holographic and wood veneer finishes as well. In their raw state, the drums are aesthetically striking, and will help you stand out as a musician. If you want a unique sound and style, then you have found the right company. Please view our photos to witness our product first hand. Check back often, as we are perpetually pushing the limits of creativity, efficiency, and quality.
