I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

"He said it was because she was intelligent, and intelligent women mixed literature and poetry with love, which paralyzed him..." Anais Nin (Delta Of Venus)
is for ECCENTRIC.
* I'm often described as "multi-faceted". A friend in New Orleans said, "Elizabeth, you're like a Coltrane rift. Just as complex and innovative, but sweet; if you get it, it makes ya wanna dance..." My best friend in Santa Fe says that if I were a character from any book I'd be Holly Go Lightly. Another commented, "If you were a man, Elizabeth, you'd be Cary Grant." (No penis-envy here, but if I had to be a man, I think that Cary Grant's suave demeanor is the way to go.) *
* My favorite smells are vanilla, almond & honey suckle, and that's what I douse my body and soul in. I'm a fiery red-head with Irish and Italian blood, so beware! Though my life experiences have mellowed and ripened me, I am by no means a reserved person; like the universe, I can still revert into chaos. *
* My middle name is Thankful (an historic family name), and I am thankful for my life experiences. *
* I am a jack of several creative trades, and hopefully an ace of at least one. (As Katherine Hepburn said, "If you always do what interests you, at least one person will be pleased.) I'm most often seen with my laptop; one of several cameras; jewelry pliers; a notebook & pen; and always with a matching, funky bag and jewelry. I studied fashion design, and work independently as a Fashion Consultant and Stylist (myspace.com/bellissimafashion). My business is starting to boom, and yet it leaves me time to work one day a week translating & teaching Italian, and, most importantly, a few days a week to work on my novels. That is how I mainly define myself, a writer. Although I haven't been published yet under my own name, I have two New York literary agents interested in my first novel, Nothing Left But The Loa (an historical romance placed in New Orleans, 1801)-still in the editing phase. Meanwhile, I'm working on three more which I've dubbed Anthropological Romances: The Blue Silk Scarf (the story of an American archeologist in Rome, 1920's), A Thirsty Soul (A Romany saga), and Mercutio (A love triangle between Juliet, Romeo, and his best friend Mercutio). Add to those a screenplay on Le Comte de Saint-Germain, and you'll be able to calculate how much quality time I spend with Toshi (my laptop). *
* I also love acting. I used to co-host a tv show in Rome and am now, clearly a product of my enviornment, catching the Hollywood bug and loving it. *
* Basically, I strive to be as dynamic as possible in what little time we're given, and if capable, help out wherever I can. *
* I used to live in the eclectic city of Venice Beach. ("Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go." -Truman Capote), but recently moved to the fabulous Marina Del Rey. I see sailboats every day that entrance with their sensual sway, and I can smell the salty air from my window. The ocean calls to me like a siren. Obeying (which is not always in my nature) I let it summon me. Unless it's raining, I bike along its shores, run my feet in the sand, listen to the seagulls squawk their chorus as they vie with the pelicans, and breath deep the heeling salinity. The sea and I confirm that this is where I truly belong for now, and I have fallen head-over-heels in love. *
* I've had many great adventures having lived in Chicago; Rome; London; Washington, DC; New Orleans; and Santa Fe among other cities. I find experiencing new places and cultures uber-addictive. I can mark off my list: South America (Columbia, Peru, Brazil); Italy (Rome, Milan, Venic, Verona, Florence, San Giminiano, Sienna, Naples, Perrugia, Porto Santo Stefano, Porto Ercole, Sperlunga, Trani, Bari, Pompeii, Torino, I Castelli Romani, Cerceo, Norcia, etc...) France (ah, Paris), & England (London, Brighton); Spain (Malaga, Granada, Puerto Banus, Mirbella); The Bahamas (Nassau & Paradise Island); Honduras (Roatan, San Pedro Sula, La Ceiba, Utila, Cayos Cochinos); Gilbralta; Hawaii (Maui & Kauai); Canada (Montreal & Toronto); Morocco (Tangier); and most of the continental US. *
* I have yet to explore Belize, The Gallapagos Islands (love those semi-prehistoric sea iguanas-even when they so unattractively snot out salt-which reminds me of my brother and milk...), Mexico, India, Asia, and the lower half of Africa. My dream is to safari in Kenya on horseback, camping along the way- think Out Of Africa. (Of course I'd practice my rifflery first. I'd hate to kill an animal, but if it comes down being Leo's plat du jour, I'll abide by Darwin in a heart beat!) Then I'd like to spend time in India, inscribing my visions while peacocks float down from the trees. Basically, it's my dream to live in various corners of the world, creating my novels as inspired by the beauty of my surroundings, the culture within, and the tales that each tribe of humanity shares in passing. *

My Interests

* chasing morpho butterflies through the Amazon, making people laugh/smile, taking time to smell the s and letting their beauty inspire, finding shapes in the clouds, sharing a moment, dancing in the writing, sailing (except for winching-though my arms have NEVER looked better!), snorkeling & diving, reading, movies, traveling, interior/fashion/jewelry design, Nia/yoga/Tae Bo/Belly Dancing/Hip Hop, Sterling wirework & beadwork, watching sunsets (especially into the ocean), horse-back riding, drinking wine, walking or biking along the shore, making new friends, all night long to any of the music below, going to concerts/the symphony/the ballet/the theater/comdey shows, swimming, stargazing, beach-combing, karaoke, intellectual/silly conversation, hugging/kissing/snuggling a man I

"Love is the whole and more than all" -EE Cummings-

* Also spotting a butterfly, dolphin, seal, otter, whale, tucan, monkey in the wild rocks my world! *

I'd like to meet:

* MEN, ah, men...I'd love a life partner one of these days. The last one decayed pior to his due date after 3 yrs of running hot & cold like a third-world plumbing system. That's way too long for me to have held on with such sudden chills, but love is oh so blind (and apparently not heat sensative either). So I am open like a blossom to receive a sagacious, mature, funny, quick-witted, generous, KIND, compassionate man with class and culture. Life is too short not to live it passionately and love twice as much. (No need to apply if you can't fathom this concept.)
* Other than that, the Dahli Lama; My mentor (wherever you are); , or Woodstock, The Tooth Fairy (w/out having to lose a tooth first), Salamon Rushdie, that creative genius Steve Martin, Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou (I, too, know why the caged bird sings!), David Lynch, A top publisher who LOVES my novles, Ellen De Generes, Conan O'Brian, David Bowie (I already met Bono), the "god" who supposedly "created" this zany world, any man/woman/child who enlightens and inspires me, those who make me laugh with utter abandon (snorts included), and whoever's responsible for concentric crop circles-nice art! *

* If I could go back in time: Dali, Klimt, Isadora Duncan, Anais Nin, Henry Miller; Charles Bukowski (as long as he didn't breathe on me), DH Lawrence, Stanley kuberic, Italo Calvino, Picasso, Madame Chanel, Katherine Hepburn, Fred Astaire, Cary Grant, Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray, Salvador Dali, , Andy Warhol (just to party at Studio 54), and so many other inspiring minds. *

* I'd love more contacts from those who graduated from that eccentric art-school on Elm Lea Farm known as The Putney School, especially long lost trouble-making pals from years 1984-1987. *

* Also, anyone artistic, adventurous, and just plain fun to be around (but, by all means, have a bad day or two; it's only natural!). *
* Female friends are my sisters. (You get what you give in the girly-world.) *
* Basically, I'm lucky to have loved some amazing people, those who have left something vital in my soul. (I've foolishly lost touch with several, but they're embeeded in my heart like jewels.) *
We all connect on http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=541993273

Books:

Here's Lawrences' whole ingenius paragraph: "The hard air was still sulphurous, but they were both used to it. Round the near horizon went the haze, opalescent with frost and smoke, and on the top lay the small blue sky; so that it was like being inside an enclosure, always inside. Life always a dream or a frenzy, inside an enclosure." Personally, I think of us as not being encapsulated in space, but as sands inside an hourglass. As that mineral grain, I hope to sparkle and shine, perhaps, even, illuminate. This is literature's gift to the world...
