Currently reading If You liked School You'll Love Work by Irvine Welsh. I have read the first story so far and like it. I usually like his short stories anyway so this should be a good one. I am also reading a bio of Skip James. He was an obscure blues singer and apparently a sociopath. Hmm.. At my local library I picked up a book full of Francis Bacon interviews. I have been reading bits of them too in between the other two books. Previously I read Shutterbabe by Deborah Copaken Kogan. This memoir is very inspiring. All about a single and naive at times woman discovery herself and the world while working as a photojournalist. I also read Dekooning's Bicycle a nice bio on the Hamptons and some of the artists that lived there. I feel like this book touched the surface on Dekooning and told lesser known stories about Pollack. Just read volume one and two of John Richardson's A Life of Picasso. This book is wonderful. Makes you feel like you are there with Picasso. I also read I, Tina the biography of Tina Turner. On the fiction front I read Drop City by T.C Boyle. I have been daydreaming of Alaska since. I also devoured the Phillip Pullman series Dark Materials. This was a great series and I am glad I read it before the movie release. What a great book for young kids, makes you question authority. Something I think more people need to do.
