About Me
The Kings of Hip Hop are dead. Whomever you wish to name, B.I.G., or Pac, their lives are reflective of historical royalty; fame, power, success, and tragedy. Yet still, many current artist strive to be crowned with this honor, and as partial creators of the genre, Hip Hop audiences are constantly searching for a new ‘go-to’ artist. Well, its now time for the Prince to reign, the Prince of NY that is, G.O. PHATS
Historically, the prince was always the product of refined upbringing; he came from a strong family, and always got his way. In G.O. PHATS case, refined upbringing translates to Brooklyn streets during the eighties; where you learned to hold your own, or fall apart. The strong family he comes from is represented by his team and relatives; Bullseye Entertainment and U.A.T.W. (Us Against The World). While he’s come a long way from his first steps around the age of five (having earned his current alias “FAT†due to his massive baby weight) G.O PHATS or FAT, is bred of true artistry.
Initially his career in the industry began as a background management type; it was assisting artists that helped G.O PHATS realize he could out-perform most of the performers in his surroundings. With some instructional guidance from his brother, he learned the most important thing to consider when making music: writing your true feelings. Music, being the universal language, deals with aspects of life encountered in every hood, culture, and ethnicity. G.O. PHATS possesses the ability to create music that makes people experience his lyrics, this is a talent of Hip Hop royalty executed by few, and rarely mastered. Coming up in the era of R. Kelly, and New Edition, PHATS knows what it means for a song to come on, and be gripped with the “oh-shit†factor. That is the factor which creates longevity in the industry; G.O. PHATS is the artist that can compose a balance of songs; the hood tune for the streets, the love tune for the emotional cats, the party tune for the club, and the conscious tune for the thinkers, and throughout all of this maintain the most important thing, the “oh-shit†factor.
With an upcoming release and tour in Europe, G.O PHATS is committed to providing his audiences with a realistic representation of the Hip Hop experience. As Fabolous so accurately dubbed the current industry favorite “studio gangstersâ€, we (the Hip Hop community) don’t need to worry about misrepresentation from PHATS. He doesn’t need to rap about the twenty five guns that are now so popular to own, or the millions of dollars he didn’t make off of selling drugs in the streets. Although he is a cocky dude, whatever he says, he means and vice versa. If he says he’s going to do it, it’s going to be done, and as a matter of fact he only needs one gun; as a certified marine PHATS definitely doesn’t need a team of goons, just a clear shot. While everyone is busy trying to gangsterfy (yes that is a fabricated word created specifically for the use of his highness G.O. PHATS) their lyrics, no one is having good ole fun in their music. The biggest records in every park, playground, and night club this summer were all about fun. With lyrics ranging from a warm liquid you eat with Sunday dinner, to dances whose only moves involved shrugging your shoulders back and forth. The success of these songs is a testament to the failure of oversaturated thug music.
While southern rappers are climbing charts because they make songs that are fun, and reflect on their gritty endurances in their hood, G.O. PHATS can do that and better, he’s going to bring the top of the charts back to NY. Since Hip Hop is described as the residue of the urban experience; real recognizes real G.O.PHATS will easily be recognized as the Brooklyn-bred, Hip Hop royalty; Prince of NY.
