About Me

I'm passionate about not only music but photography and poetry (a small book of poems is planned for the near future). Since I decided to begin showing my own photographs, I have participated in two exhibitions and am currently working towards my first solo exhibition. You can see some of my photographs by checking out the My Pics link on the left of this page (plus artwork by my partner--the artist and craftsperson Janet Crosby--and various music memorabilia). Janet can be contacted for art commissions through her website www.myspace.com/janetcrosby ).
.. On the writing side, three recent projects are the Sun Box, Jonathan And Leigh reissue and 4-CD Peter Green box set. The 3-CD box set 'The Legendary Sounds Of Sun Studios' (MetroTriples METRTCD823) is a collection of classic blues, country and rock 'n' roll sides from the likes of Johnny Cash, Rufus Thomas, Carl Perkins, Howlin' Wolf and other great musical legends (alongside some interesting musical footnotes). For the reissue of Jonathan And Leigh's only CD 'Third And Main' (Vanguard/Ace), I managed to track down both members of this elusive Ohio folk duo (and their manager, now living in L.A.) and tell their story in a 2500 word sleevenote, complete with previously unseen photographs and memorabilia. Peter Green The Anthology (Salvo) was released late last year and has not only sold well but garnered critical acclaim (including a 5-star review in THE INDEPENDENT newspaper). The 13,000+ notes I completed for the accompanying book, hopefully, tell Green's story sympathetically and comprehensively. A further Peter Green 2-CD set is scheduled for early 2010. All of the above releases are now on sale in all good record shops and online stores.

I've written a World Music Page for Ace Records/GlobeStyle Records.
It's at How To Buy World Music .
My earlier folk one is at How To Buy Folk
