I am here for Friends

About Me

I enjoy writing, listening to music, and occasionally attending concerts. I'm trying to get into painting, but it's hard when all you do is work, study and sleep. I enjoy good TV, good films, good books, good food and good music. I also like hiking, the dirtier I get hiking, the better... but gimme my shower at the end of the day, I'll be a much more pleasant person to be around, not to mention, I'll smell better! I'm an animal person, they kind of flock towards me, maybe it's the high pitched voice I make when they approach, but who cares, right? I don't like being ignored, I like to cook, and I've been told on more than one occasion that I'm good at it. I'm very up in the air on what I would like to do post under grad, 'cause I have an affinity for a handful of things. I don't like talking on the phone, never have, never will. I am fairly liberal, and I do identify myself as an environmentalist but I'm not going to be chaining my self to a tree anytime soon. Hey, I recycle, you should too, or... please, recycle!

My Interests

Writing, Literature, Film, Music, Pilates, Yoga-- specifically Power Vinyasa, Hiking, Editing, Cooking, animals, and a few thousand and one other things that strike my fancy.

I'd like to meet:

Non-crazy human beings who won't use me to make themselves feel better about themselves. No people who just want a friend add, because they like to have a friend list chalk full of females, and no people who just want a chalk full friend list either. If you want me on your list you have to get to know me, or know me already, got it? If you're racist or make ethnically charged and/or negative comments on a regular basis, I don't want to know you. If you like wine, food, movies with a plot, do you know where Chopin was from? Oh, and if you don't know where things go in in your kitchen, learn now or you'll forever be confused, and stop putting the good knives in the dishwasher.

Music:

Billie Holiday, the Beatles, Bobby Darin, Gershwin, Howie Day, Chopin, Copland, John Coltrane, Peggy Lee, Jason Mraz, Robert Johnson, Moby, Gogol Bordello, Jamie Cullum, Pink Martini, Barenaked Ladies, Jude, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Jordan, Regina Spektor, Charlotte Martin, the Fratellis, Arcade Fire, Ryan Adams, Damien Rice, The Kooks, Matt Nathanson, Kaki King, Dean Martin, Radiohead, Ingrid Michaelson, Tristan Prettyman, Ani Difranco, George Michael, The Shins, Tegan and Sara, Roisin Murphy, Hanson, (older)Dave Matthews Band... oh and a few other's of course.

Movies:

Singin In the Rain, Vertigo, The Princess Bride, Footloose, Say Anything, Strictly Ballroom, An American In Paris, The Wizard of Oz, The Fisher King, The Year My Voice Broke, GiGi, Flirting, Atonement, Roman Holiday, Sabrina, Breakfast on Pluto, Rear Window, Chungking Express, 28 Days Later, Secretary, and many many more.

Television:

Not sure anymore, considering the strike is putting new projects on hold, thus destroying the television season. I support the writers though, they deserve what they deserve!

Books:

Kissing in Manhatten, The Things They Carried, East of Edan, Cannery Row, Of Mice and Men, Cold Mountain, Young Adam, All the King's Men, The Lover, The Wump World, Lolita, American Gods, Atonement, The Man in the Gray Flannel Suit.... and a few other's.

never corrected

Singing along to the most recent Regina Spektor album, we meandered through the ABQ streets, to my friends flat on Wyoming. The drive was quiet all for switching the stereo from Regina to Sade. To whi...

Plastic Fifteen Minutes

It took me fifteen minutes to get the plastic wrapping off my brand new copy of Matt Nathanson's Some Mad Hope. Is there a reason the CD manufactures make the packaging so damn difficult to get off, a...

Pinky... not to be mixed up with the painting.

Now, Pinky was a man. A tall man, with broad shoulders, medium brown hair, slim hips and a tiny waist. Ideal to say the least, if you go for that sort of thing. However, Pinky had a bad mishap the oth...

Batman

Last week or so, I saw a man sitting at the Street Car stop on campus wearing a full on Batman suit. Now, not Batman circa Adam West with the Blam! Bang! Whiz! But more like the rubbered up Michael Ke...

The other day a man came in to my place of work wearing, and I quote "a work out kilt." it was red and shiny, like warm up trousers/pants, what have you, with pleats, and white buttons. Times like the...
