The Duo blends Hip Hop, R & B and African rhythmIn the world of Hip Hop, Michael Dada and Tunde Olaose are on the forefront of bringing inspirational beats to the masses. Known as Mictunes, the musical duo joined forces in 2003 and have spread their unique brand of music and lyrics all across the U.S. and the globe.Fame and money never motivated them - they were moved by friendship and music to fuse Hip Hop and R&B into a uniquely funky style of music with a new flavor. After two years of honoring their craft and following their hearts, Mictunes (a play on words formed by combining their first names) recorded a cd they called A Change. The music on A Change was, as they call it, an “ode to where our talent originated - The Church.â€With the tracks cut on their debut cd and a shared love for God, Mictunes hit the road in 2005, performing their music and witnessing to crowds of all sizes across the country. They landed gigs in churches from coast to coast, then went on to perform in London and Nigeria, which Mictunes calls their “Motherland.†In Nigeria, Mictunes performed in some of the biggest churches in the country. The highlight of that tour was performing in front of a massive crowd some estimated at over one million strong at the R.C.C.G Holy Ghost Night Vigil. They also participated in music seminars, encouraging new artists and preparing them for the artistic journey ahead.Before departing from Nigeria, they had the good fortune to pass a beat cd to 2face Idibia, Africa’s brightest superstar and winner of MTV Europe Music Awards first ever African category in 2005. 2face and Mictunes did some freestyle jamming and later hooked up in Chicago when 2face was on a U.S. tour. The collaboration produced the single “No Shaking†from his new album, Grass to Grace. “No Shaking†- which admonishes people to stand up for what they believe in - is a worldwide favorite for DJs. Another noteworthy group achievement came in June 2006, when Mictunes won Producer of the Year at the first ever Nigerian Entertainment Awards in Washington, DC.Mictunes’ climb up the Hip Hop ladder continued when Ola Joseph (CEO of Chicago-based Zoawe Records) hooked the pair up with Harpo Productions to record tracks for broadcast that had a South African vibe.
