I am here for Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

I am really old, scientists usually try to say that i am between 300 and 500 years old, but I can tell you I am alot older. Most people see me dressed in green, but I have lots of colors. I like to get wet and dirty. Some say that I am the lungs of the earth because I breathe in carbon dioxide and breath out oxygen. I used to be pretty big back in the day, but I am getting weaker. Some think I am dying, but let me tell you, I dont plan on dying anytime soon. I have just been shrinking a little lately because humans have been waging a war on me. I used to make up 15% of the earth's land surface, but due to human activity, I now only make up 6%. I am 60% smaller than I was. I contain over 50% of all life on earth. Many of these life forms have been used as medicine for humans. Over 121 perscription drugs come from within my forest. But less than 1% of my forest has been examined by scientists. Every year we lose 50,000 species to extinction.I am being killed at a rate of 1.5 acres/second. What will happen when I'm gone?Read about what some really cool humans are doing to help me.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I need help from my human friends. I know that you all aren't out to kill me. There are some of you who really care. All I can ask is that you do something and do it fast. Stop wasting gasoline and paper. Recycle. Plant native trees. But more importantly learn more about the problems facing our world. It is a complex situation, and we are going to need a complex solution. I am not just being selfish here, once I'm gone, life is going to be difficult everywhere on earth.....remember the dinosaurs?High school and college students can come down to Costa Rica and help me by working with the Finca Project. I sure could use your help.Read more at fincaproject.org
