OK, to all my friends, I finally signed-up (gave in).Too all my potential new friends, I'm from Calgary, Canada and well, you will have to get to know me to understand me! My on-line nickname is mbjewel, aka Jewel. The "mb" in mbjewel stands for Manitoba, where I was born and lived for 40 years. I relocated to Calgary 3 weeks after my 40th birthday.I love music (country, rock and pop). My speakers may be playing Keith Urban, Jason Michael Carrol, Def Leppard, or Nickelback all within the same hour. It just depends on my mood at the time.I've had my mid-life crisis and that's all you need to know lol! I like to say that a perfectly happy person is someone who can enjoy the sights on a detour. Well I've had my detour and I enjoyed pretty much all of it!In 2000, I was diagnosed with sarcoidosis, which predominately affected my lungs and my skin. In 2005, I was declared sarcoid free. I'm still on daily asthma medications due to the damage to my lungs but the move to Alberta has done me a world of good (just a bit warmer climate). In 2001, I changed my life again by quiting my 18 yr career at an investment company and returning to college to become a travel counsellor. In the last five years, I worked for two travel agencies and moved into an administrative role. I also transferred to Calgary and won a free trip to Disneyland! Woohooo! Well, 9/11 left the travel industry full of unhappy, cynical people. The low salaried industry is high-pressure and has even less "extra" incentives than ever before. Being in Calgary and with a lifetime of computer skills, I moved into the oil and gas industry as an administrative assistant for an Engineering firm. I've been there since November/06 and absolutely love it!! Now I can even afford to travel, lol. Ironic, isn't it?
