Take what you want from the sound...

About Me

2007 is set to be the Year of the Optimist. Already a well respected singer and songwriter in his own right, Chris Howard's exciting new venture sees him rejoin forces with old mates Owen, Al and George - musicians who themselves have a string of credits to their name, such as performances at the Royal Festival Hall and work with acts as diverse as Retro Stereo and Marsupial Management (Stereophonics). But no egos, really...

With an established base of quality material already to draw upon ("...songs with such quality and depth that leave me baffled as to why I have not heard of the two songwriters, Reading may have just unearthed a diamond", Joel Priest 2003) Optimists are nonetheless hard at work perfecting their sound and writing for the first time as a band unit.

At times jubilant, at times introspective, but always engaging... we hope that there'll soon be four more Optimists in a town near you...

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:

Al -bass- George -guitar- Chris -guitar, vocals- Owen -drums-

Influences:
The world in general, we like to think. And Bryan Adams.
Sounds Like: That's up to you...
Just as a helping hand, though, here's some of what has been said...

"...This band is wonderful. With a look that the cast of the OC would die for (we mean that in a very good way!). The Optimists have sultry tones and chilled anthemic songs that take you to a beautiful far away place. The band members are exceptionally in tune with one another and have an undeniable stage presence." .... Flat Pak Yak

"...these guys simply know how to write some amazing songs. I confess their 3-track CD has been in my car since it arrived on my doorstep, usually on repeat until I have learnt at least the chorus. It has become my "driving to work music" something that will help me through the frustrating early morning traffic and make everything seem brighter and the drive a little easier." .... Josaka.com
"...The vocals are of perfect tone and texture, complimented by the subtle harmonies I was singing along as soon as the second chorus came around, as best I could anyway! I am convinced they would be incredible live, its just that kind of sound, great for any size venue, arena, stadium, a sound that never overpowers its audience yet still leaves your ears ringing..." ... Joel Priest
"...with this song Howard and Martin only strengthen their claims to be the next big thing, they really are that good. They have this slightly dirty sound which when combined with Howard’s vocals and the awesome arrangements sets them apart from anyone else..."
