My name is Arthur Elliott, and I have produced and presented the weekly radio programme "Sidestream" on Brisbane, Australia Radio 99.7FM since 1992. The programme includes singer/songwriter, folk & roots, acoustic, Celtic, bluegrass, world music, the blues, and beyond.At present, the programme cannot be heard on the web, although the station is working on this. 99.7FM is a community radio station based in Margate, Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. It has operated fulltime since getting its broadcasting licence in 1992. It covers the area of Redcliffe city, what is now the Moreton Bay Region of Queensland, and the northern suburbs of Brisbane.The idea of the programme Sidestream is music away from the mainstream - hence its name. It does not play obscure or unknown music as its main aim - rather, it tries to focus on music, genres, and artists who are not given much, if any, airtime on the commercial stations. We play music from all over the world, sent to us by artists, record companies, and distributors.There are some limitations. The programme doesn't include rap, heavy metal, jazz, classical, or opera. Its music tends not to be too abrasive. As the station has country music programmes set up at other times, we don't play a lot of country music.The programme's weekly playlists are published on the international email listservs folkdj-l and blues-dj, and in Australia on ausfolkradio, BluesOz, on www.amrap.org, and as bulletins on this site.
