Rasputin Orange

More idea than reality; more smell than substance

About Me

Rasputin Orange is much more idea than band. In 1999, high school buddies Den Quinn (Alien of Fortune, Donnington Rubble, Auditorium Soda), Andy Chapman (Donnington Rubble, Baby Carrot, Parenthetical), Ty Gerhardt (Donnington Rubble, Auditorium Soda, The Girlfriend Experience), and Andy's friend Dennis Galway (Carlos!, Baby Carrot) got together to record some of Den's music. This one-day recording session, and subsequent overdubs, resulted in a four-song ep that included the songs, "Salivate Light/A Scene," "Glitter Eye," and the anthemic "Sometimes I look Like a Masturbator." These songs were available for free for a few years on the old, and much better mp3.com space. After a few years of song writing and the completion of Den's monumental "Sacramento" double album, we all decided to record a full length album drawing from Den's many tunes. In 2004, in the middle of Den's dissertation work, all four members got together to record the nine songs that would become the future debut album, Rubble. Andy with Tys able help completed a masterful mix of the songs in late 2005. We hope to get it mastered and released in the near future. In the meantime, Den is busy and happy teaching, researching, publishing, and presenting his academic work on religious history. Ty is doing well with The Girlfriend Experience; they are poised to release their album, When in Rome Do as the Lions, to a much anticipating fan base. Andy and Dennis are happy doing their things, what ever those are, since I havent heard from them lately. There are no plans to get together to play or record any new tracks any time soon.
