a> H.B.P Show in Okeechobee, F.L
H.B.P.’s Bio:There are four factors of greatness in hip hop one being the catchy hook, two, the beat, three, the concept and four being the vocals. There are groups that carry 2 or 3 of these factors until Florida’s best kept secret came along; a group that calls their selves Hungry But Patient (H.B.P). They carry all 4 factors, not to mention their powerful swag, unique flow, determination and a style the industry has not yet seen. H.B.P is proving to everyone that they belong and are soon to be the next stars in the hip hop world.
H.B.P started unintentionally, when Lil Bus and Perk found out they were cousins, in 2005. Although Perk, the younger of the two, had a few more years on his belt in the rap game, Lil Bus had determination and was driven by Perk’s lyrical skills to form a duo between the two of them. With the resolve of Lil bus and the sink lyrics of Perk they recorded their first song in November 2006 and started the birth of there first mix tape “We got itâ€. By August 2007, the duo had recorded twelve songs. Soon after, at a local talent search, they met Hound, who at the time was in another group (T.Y.P). They exchanged cd’s and agreed to do a song together. Thus, “Feel Dat†was made. “The chemistry was there and we knew, then, that we had something goodâ€, says Lil Bus. However, being in another group made Hound reluctant to join the team, but when Hound’s group situation didn’t work out he received another invitation from Lil Bus and Perk, which he accepted, forming H.B.P. PERK, the LYRICAL ASSASSIN, 20 years of age from TALLAHASSEE FLORIDA, started rapping at the tender age of eleven; and by fourteen, knew that he was unlike all of the self-proclaimed rappers in Tallahassee. Perk, at the time the Lyrical Assassin, was only fifteen, recording songs that he wrote. He recorded them on tapes and gave them away; by age sixteen, he dropped his first solo album, REVENGE, and had fans around his high school wanting more. While working on his second album life took a turn for the worst, his biggest fan and older brother, Cedric Davis was killed. Feeling like it was too much to go on he took a break from it all. “I really didn’t see any reason to go on anymore, rap or anything around me made sense, so I gave up on myself’. Perk traded rap in for smoking and selling drugs around his school and on the streets, knowing that he had a lyrical gift, but refused to go back to rapping. When he was eighteen, with the help of some of his peers’ influences, he was brought back to where he needed to be; in the game. Perk knew that was what his brother would have wanted him to do, so he began writing again. “It was like I could breath againâ€, says Perk. “With Hound Gettum’ and Bus behind me and Cedric above, there’s nothing that can stop me. Get ready, I’m here for the long run.â€
Lil Bus, 22, born in Tennessee but raised in Tallahassee has always had an ambition to make a name for himself; which took him down a road to the streets. This life led him to 3 gun charges and a gun shot wound, which opened his eyes to the Hip Hop World. He knew his cousin Perk had a God given talent at rapping and being around him long enough would make him better, with no limitations; from the first song all the way up to the formation of H.B.P. Although finding it hard to give up crunk and hardcore rap, being that it was what he was used to; Bus knew it was time for a change. “Crunk and hardcore died a long time ago, it feels great to be different and to have our own style, we call it vibin’ music for fellaz and the ladies.’’ Rapping for only a year and a half Bus has already proven he is going to be an important aspect to the game as well as an important aspect to this group.
Hound Gettum’, 23, born in Lake Wales Florida, has had his share of ups and downs. As a child he moved from house to house, relative to relative, but it was in the 9th grade when he became fascinated with the street life. “I mean, I saw my uncles doin’ it, all my cousins was doin’ it, and they had the respect of the streets, I wanted that.’’ However, it was the same street life that landed him in jail at 18 with a handful of felonies and placed on 11 years probation after serving nine and a half months in jail. That’s when he decided to get serious about music, “Since a baby I’ve loved music, it was always in me.†While incarcerated he constantly worked on his writing skills and put all of his time in getting better. Still affiliated with T.Y.P, but now an official member of H.B.P., Hound Gettum’ is an important piece to this 3 piece puzzle, “I honestly think this is how it’s supposed to be, Hound, Bus, and Perk, call us da shit, (lol), naw we da holy trinity of hip hop and das official!!â€
H.B.P is destined to be great. Doing shows all over Florida’s panhandle and like a virus, spreading quickly, winning competitions as well as the hearts of their audience. “Our aspiration is not just to be another group in the industry and blend in with everyone else, and we damn sho’ aint trying to be 1 hit wonders.’’ Not only does the music of H.B.P introduce everyone to Hound, Bus, and Perk, but it also marks a new era in hip hop that everyone has been waiting on. H.B.P IS THE NEXT GENERATION OF HIP HOP!!!!!!!
