LA DENT

I began being involved in musical projects in the early nineties, in the old days of the hometaping network. I could hardly play three chords of guitar or even sung in tune but, with the help of devoted comrades, some material came out. At that time I was mostly putting vocals on the instrumental pieces of my friend and making noises, we were recording on old-school four tracks machines and some of these songs have been issued on underground tape labels. A few years after I became a sound engineer in the audiovisual field and finally figured out how using a synth or a sampler, so at the end of the nineties I began to produce some material myself. Slowly but surely, always with the help of my musical partners in crime, the project La Dent came out. The creation of a song has always the same process, and everything begins with the lyrics ; it defines the basic structure (rhythm, bass, synth) and the choice of the main samples. Because of my huge interest in audiovisual, I like to use a lot of movies excerpts, with the aim of increasing the atmosphere describes by the lyrics, and even sometimes these excerpts are the leading chorus of the song. Anyway, the vocals are between spoken and sung, the words between delirium and rage, and the result is almost all a weird rap-punk-electro-rock stuff. So be it.
