About Me
Omar "BAM" Blanco was born and raised in Los Angeles, Ca. Originally a trombone player, he switched to bass guitar and the rest is history. He's played for and with some of Southern California's most innovative groups: CIPES AND THE PEOPLE, JIBARO, THE SANS BLANK PROJECT, TRU RHYTHM AND SOUL, FUNK SHWAY, CLOUD 9 (collaboration), LUMINARES. His major influences include Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jaco Pastorius, Geezer Butler from Black Sabbath, Bootsy Collins, Sting, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, Steely Dan, Tribe Called Quest, Buena Vista Social Club, Tito Puente. He plays a mix of funk, classic rock, latin fusion, hip hop, reggae, reggaeton and enjoys all world musics. He is available for everything from one time studio sessions to rehearsals, shows and tours. Rates are negotiable.
