MyGen Profile Generator..With a collective ten years in the music industry playing in a range of different bands and genres, THE PORTRAITS have finally recorded their first proper EP to the delight of their long suffering friends and relatives.Actually THE PORTRAITS have only been together since the bands inception in 2005, and have just recently finalized the members in late 2006 for the recording of their self-titled debut EP.But this is not the first project for these talented musicians all of whom have graduated from Australia’s most prestigious music schools including The Sydney Conservatorium and The Victorian College of the Arts. It is, however, their first collective jaunt into the theatrical world of pop music.The Keegan brother’s head up the rhythm section with Andy Keegan on drums, and Tim Keegan on electric bass and BV’s. This brotherly relationship translates into an unspoken understanding and creates rock solid grooves for master guitarists, Jacob Cole on Electric and newly appointed member, Lachie Robertson on Acoustic. Cole’s playing is understated and sublime with achingly beautiful blues lines complimenting Robertson’s gritty and driving strum, and intricate finger picking.Then singer/songwriter Toni Randle joins the thro, singing her little heart out and playing keyboards. Her voice is nothing less than intoxicating and utilizing her Jazz and Classical training goes places other singers would fear to tread.All members contribute to the writing of the music but the main contributors are Toni Randle and Andy Keegan and most recently Tim Keegan. THE PORTRAITS music is best described as melodic pop with definite blues, soul and folk elements. Too wordy? In short, it’s just great music.You can be sure that THE PORTRAITS are meant for bigger and better things in the not so distant future so come check out this rockingly melodious band to see what all the hype is about.
