FTL Knights Rugby Club

I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

The Fort Lauderdale Knights Rugby Club was founded in January of 1977 by a small core of ex-college rugby players needing to stay active. During the last 29 years we have hosted international touring teams from Argentina, Bahamas, Canada, England, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Russia, Venezuela and Wales. The Fort Lauderdale Knights themselves have traveled to many other locations around the globe.
The Fort Lauderdale Knights Rugby Club starts their second year in Division 1. The club has been building its infrastructure, financial resources, player pool and our improvement over the last couple of seasons has been very impressive. We have the best coach in Florida, who is also the South Territory Men’s All-star coach. The club has also concluded an agreement with the City of Fort Lauderdale which is providing a dedicated rugby field, with international standard posts and pitch size. We are committed to enhance the reputation of the sport of Rugby in Florida and the United States through our spirited and exciting play on and off the field.

Ruggerfest 2008

The 31st annual Ruggerfest will take place on Feb 24th and 25th 2008 at Tradewinds Park . There will be 4 divisions; Premier, Club, Women’s and Old Boys. If there is enough interest we will have on Over 35 and an Over 45 Old Boys division. If there are enough teams interested we will consider a Masters (Over 50) division as well.
We plan on having the usual amenities including: food, beverage, massage tent, merchandise seller and a laundry service. We would also be hosting our famous Friday afternoon Golf Tournament and a kicking tournament with cash prices, plan ahead so you don't miss it. Book your flights to come in early and enjoy all the sights, sounds, and pleasures of Fort Lauderdale.Look for our advertisements in Rugby magazine. More importantly, if you are considering coming decide early and commit early.
There is going to be a rush on hotels so if you would like to participate make sure you book early. Our hotel and travel coordinator is Sharon Resta and she can be contacted at [email protected] or call her at 1-800-327-8867 Ext 1819.

The Fort Lauderdale Knights Rugby kicked off its "Fort Lauderdale Youth Rugby Program." All children in Broward County between the ages of 8-17 are invited and encouraged to participate in learning about the exciting sport of rugby. We want the youth within the community, to enjoy the spirit of camaraderie and the fulfillment of participating in an organized sport.
Every year Fort Lauderdale Knights Rugby Club host "The Ruggerfest" one of the top 15’s tournaments in the USA. It takes place during the last weekend of February which attracts teams from all over. We host some of the best teams in the country, many of these teams play in divisions like: Super League, Men & Women DI, DII, DIII, Collegiate and Old Boys.
Thanks to The USA Rugby Eagles
We want to thank those players from the National Squad, who came to our practice and took the time to share their knowledge to help us improve our game. The FTL Knights Wishes the best to The Eagles in their quest for The 2007 Rugby World Cup. Want to know more about the Eagles? click here
